Congratulations to Josh Taylor, Scotland's only member of the Team GB Olympic boxing team. He looked superb in his first contest in the 60kg category tonight, outboxing a tough Brazilian in superb style.

His movement, handspeed, and footwork looks excellent. He looks a good bet to be among the medals.

Looks not to bad think he's avoiding the Cuban and Ukranian till the semis and they have to fight each other I think .Hopefully atleast a bronze .

He showed good skills, but got caught too much and against a better boxer that will be capitalised on, if he ia to get a medal he will have to improve

I thought he stepped off the gas badly in the third and was surprised that he actually won that round on the judges cards, even though I thought he did enough in the first 2 to be a deserved winner.

Someone already mentioned it, but he may have stamina issues, he was blowing like an old gas boiler in the third. Boxed very nice the first two though.

This could be down to him making the 60kg weight division, he was boxing at 64kg but when Stalker managed to qualify his only option was to move down to 60kg.

My main worry for him is not his talent but having to keep his weight down over such a long time during the games will he have the strength to keep the better fighters off for the full 3 rounds.

  12. the brazilian hit him with alot of body shots - most did not seem too score

I went to this last night, he did look good, but I must admit, my knowledge of the boxers is next to nothing. The Lithuanian (Evaldas) in the 2nd bout of the evening looked really good, anyone know much about him?

And a cracking bout between Azzedine (Fra) and Ramirez (USA), that ended 21-20 to Ramirez, I actually thought the Frenchman won but nonetheless, was a cracking nine minutes of action.
