we may be force fed Harrison due to the fact the other titles are still being contested before in the next coming months. He may have harrison in December and then go for another shot in march at unifying.

Burns was awesome tonight absolute clini. I'm not betting against him again. He is a ****ing force to be reckoned with. It's time to go to America

I think Vasquez OR Abril or next for him in America to unify but it will be Scott Harrison and then unfortunatly i think it might be Gavin Rees we will see though

I can see it happening its an instant sell up there I'd say. Beside the boxing fans It makes sense for all involved. An easy sell for Frank, big pay day for Scott, lots of coverage for Ricky. I don't think ricky needs him now but it would be an obvious fight to make. I'm not too sure maybe ricky could do with the fight to up his fan base. He deserves a massive following seems like a likeable guy.

True. I feel it could be a high risk and low reward for Burns and he should be looking for a huge fight to unify the belts. I do believe he already has a lot of fans but this was a fight where most are divided with many English/Scottish divide playing a factor also.

Would be a huge payday for Frank, Harrison and Ricky would get coverage i just feel what step could he take after that if he lost?

for the record i think he would win comfortably but boxing is unpredictable

Ricky Burns was brilliant tonight, he's such a humble hard working guy. He deserves his success. I just hope now he gets more recognition in the UK

Credit to Kevin Mitchell tonight too, what a class act that guy is. Sat with his arm around Ricky after the fight cracking jokes & wanting to go for a drink in the pub with him, giving Ricky plenty of credit when so many fighters would skulk off & make excuses.

Class act inside & outside of the ring, just his bad luck that he came up against a Ricky Burns who fought an amazing fight on the night.

  9. Just keep him away from broner.

I was surprised by how strong Ricky came out, really went after the stoppage from the opening bell. The atmosphere in the secc was great too, spent most of the rounds on my feet.

    Well Done Burns

Broner reminds me of Mayweather. Has he been pressed by a fighter? No he has not we will not know how good he is till he is put in with someone who believes they can win

Broner is a jeff lacey in the making!

My house went mental when he knocked Mitchell down. Great stuff by Burnsey.

Agree on Mitchell. Class act, just well beaten. Hope he has continued success throughout his career though.

I thought this was gonna be a very close fight, but now i think Mitchells big weakness is when the pressure is on he cant maintain his focus. the difference with the murray fight was that Murray`s pressure was of a different kind as murray is slow on his feet and not so accurate, but as kev said Ricky covered his ground fast.

Rios best not try and come back down in weight

Just watched the fight - hopefully this puts an end to the myth of Mitchell as a world level contender. His preparation had nothing to do with his loss to Katsidis and it has nothing to with Burns tuning him up. He's just not as good as those guys.

As Beeston said many a time: levels. Ricky is a world-class fighter and he earned that reputation by fighting and beating guys many said would beat him.

Mitchell was decreed a world-level fighter for beating a couple of Euro-level fighters in Prescott and Murray. He'd never recorded a significant win above that level and tonight was found out of his depth again.
