I think tonight, although the fight was scrappy, that Andre Ward showed everyone that he's a multi-dimensional fighter who can fight effectively on the inside as well as the outside. He was landing left hooks and uppercuts consistently up on the ropes, and I think Green was a disgrace. He got his opportunity to be in the tournament and he had nothing...stopped throwing punches entirely from about round 6 onwards. Domination, and I think Ward might be the best fighter at 168lbs and that includes Lucian Bute.
Ward is unreal. He will be champion for a long long time. Having said that the next fight wwill be by far his toughest.
I called it before this fight, Ward will be p4p#1 when this tournament ends. I was a little unsure before but now I'm quite confident. I'm a huge Bute fan, but Ward is a better all around fighter no doubt. However, Ward can be a sucker to an uppercut as he's showed a couple of times tonight and also when he got decked previously. And Bute has the best uppercut in the game. Bute loves guys who lunge in although Ward does it more intelligently. As far as styles go Bute has the edge but as far as ability goes, Ward is better. Bute will need to develop a good right hook so that he can keep Ward guessing and catch him with that big left uppercut. I'm a big fan of both
Ward is the complete package. I'm sold on him now. He's like in all in one package. He can fight in many styles, and showed great inside skills tonight. Was pretty impressed. The casual Brits can take notice at what a great display of inside fighting looks like.
