The title and the fight is on the line at 147. this is a welterweight fight for a welterweight title. the purse is at 145lbs thats all.

The weight means nothing to me and i wont discredit a Pac man win by saying that "Cotto was Weight Drained". I am sure Cotto will come in at 145 and will be exactly the same fighter.

Shrewd move by Roach, PAcquaio gets 2million if Cotto is 2lbs over, of which he'll get 10%. Pacquaio has come all the way up from 130lbs I dont see why Cotto can't shed an extra 1-2lbs to stop him having a ridicolous size advantage on the night

Hardly courageous to be honest, he knows that if they decline people will call Pac a ***** and praise Marquez for still taking the fight.

If you check out questions related to that before Marquez/Mayweather he will tell you we're going to every court in the world.

Finally someone making sense. I know this is ESBs Gen forum (not exactly knowledgable) but how can someone interpret this as anything but Pac outsmarting Cotto is beyond me.

What Pac says is I'll fight you at 147 because we're confident we'll beat you but wait..!! I want more money. Thats all it is. Its called leverage

Roach is a complete bafoon when he makes comments like this........"We'll fight Cotto even at 147 lbs, but we wont fight him if he's over that.":rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl

........what an idiot Roach is.....the fight from my understanding will be for the title......the very fact that the title will be on the line takes away Pac's choice to bow out of the fight if Cotto comes in at over 145 lbs.

.....if Cotto comes in over the Welterweight limit, of course its Pac's choice to fight or not to fight.....but Pac has no choice on the matter on whether not to fight if Cotto weighs in at 147 lbs.

Cotto should be in pretty good position here.....in the days leading to the fight if he feels he can safely make 145 lbs without over debilitating himself, he'll make 145 lbs and not have to fork over 2 million......but if he feels that 145 lbs is going to make him sick, he's likely not going to go overboard in debilitating himself and will settle to make 147 lbs giving himself a better chance to beat Pacquiao and thus making up his 2 million loss in the purse in a future matchup that would come with a Cotto victory.

The point being is that since the fight is now for the Welter title, Pac has no choice in the matter of Cotto not making the 145 lbs limit which was agreed upon.

I doubt Cotto will do that. Penalty is the brother of Unhonorable. Cotto, imo, is honorable.
