Depends what you mean by poor technique.Somebody like Wilder cuffs a lot, and as teh fella above mentioned, he can throw some decent stuff like the straight right hand, but his whole game is about landing that huge right. Calzaghe slapped a lot, but most of his game was about landing as many shots as he could and smothering his opponent with high output. Some of his combination punching against the likes of Lacy and Kessler was outstanding.

I nominate James De Gale. Skilled, but he never really managed to adapt his amatuer punching style fully into the pro game

Antonio Tarver had weird southpaw pitty pat push punches but they were obviously effective.

Hard to define what is a wrong technique, especially when talking about well known fighters. If they have success in the ring, their technique must be just what they need and adapted to their own style.

Two well known fighters who seemed were relying more on pure power and speed rather than well crafted technique were Roy Jones Jr and Naseem Hamed. Unorthodox.

Conor McGregor/most UFC fighters. The punches McGregor threw against Mayweather were pathetic, the man simply cannot throw a proper punch.

Good point. It's when he goes for the finish that he turns to Windmill-Wilder

One more from Briggs, this time giving props to Deontay. As a veteran he doesn't know if it is technique that gives Wilder power to put anyone he touches to sleep.

Just saw this. Tarver had the weirdest combos. They seemed robotic or mechanical like. Can't place the right words, but they aren't textbook that's for sure. Or maybe they aren't fluid?

Foreman and Cooney. Big punchers but they were used to parry the blows with the head.
