You don't need that Mayweather Senior's opinion, being he lacks brain cells himself. Crack can get to ya man...
Decebal, I'm not going to quote your post because the quotes got all mixed up, but your reply to huki is pretty much spot on the money. Diaconu has bad stamina, but if anything his chin was proven tonight...as was Henry's! If Diaconu stuns Dawson like Johnson did, it will be over for Bad Chad, as Diaconu is a far superior finisher compared to Glen. Other than that, I still pick Dawson to win by a TKo after being up on points. It should be a good fight. But I want you to be honest...if Dawson drops his belt and fights Tarver for the IBF next, will you blame him?
Look at Diaconus KO percentage. Who started the myth that the midget can punch? Can't wait til Dawson KOs the midget.
Yes, I'll blame him. Tarver can wait 6 months to fight Dawson. Diaconu is live, prime and dangerous. He is not just his mandatory now, but co-holder of the title. Dawson needs to fight him and prove he's better. Tarver will wait for Dawson, as will Showtime. If Dawson drops the belt, he will have ultimately ducked Diaconu at the expense of his belt, which is not what a Champion does. I will have little respect left for Dawson if he drops the belt to duck Diaconu. It's bad for boxing too...
I think Diaconu can win depending on the Dawson that shows up. I was watching Dawson's fight with Johnson and comparing it to his fight with Adamek. Offensively Dawson was flat, his jab looked poor, he didn't use his jab to setup combinations, his footwork was horrible. He just wasn't fighting a smart fight and a lot of that can be contributed to not having Floyd Mayweather Sr. in his corner. Dawson always had defensive liablities but it would of been ironed out had he stayed with Mayweather Sr. Dawson needs to get back to his original form somehow because Dawson cannot fight Diaconu like the way he did against Johnson. If you don't believe me, just watch both fights, and you will see how badly Dawson regressed.
Tarver is a bigger threat to Dawson simply because Tarver has proven that he can fight in any type of fight. Tarver has the skills to advantage of Dawson's defensive liabilities and so can Diaconu, but more so Tarver because he's proven to be a better fighter. Dawson so far has proven that he's tough and can take a punch, what he needs to realize is that he doesn't need to take unnecessary punches. Both Calzaghe and Hopkins are known to have great chins, but they rarley get hit because they have great defense. As for Sr, he's obviously just bitter because Dawson dumped him as a trainer. Did you read the recent interview on what Sr said about Dawson? He called him a *****, a coward, a mother****er, etc, so I take what Sr says about Dawson with a grain of salt.
Fair post. :good But what if Tarver says "Let's get it on, or I'm moving on!" Would you still blame him, in that case? :yep
I'd like to see Dawson vs. Diaconu -- this is still a dangerous fight for Chad -- but wouldn't be irate if he dropped the belt. Tarver doesn't have much time left, and if Chad were to beat Tarver convincingly, he may, just may, get the winner of Calzaghe/Jones. Even if he didn't he'd command a big payday to fight Kessler or Pavlik or whoever else eventually. Diaconu's only claim to fight Dawson is that he's the mandatory; based on resume, he has proved himself a top contender, IMO. On merit, Dawson should rematch Johnson before he were to fight Diaconu.
Johnson was a voluntary though, and Chad did rightfully win a razor close decision. On his honor, he should also be rematching Adamek for giving him a voluntary shot in the first place. But those are things that can wait. An interim champ, and an aging payday like Tarver, can't.
Oh I didn't see you highlight that part. Well his footwork wasn't horrible, it was more of his defense just collapsing.
If this fight comes off Ill challenge you to an avatar bet! Obviously i have dawson beating Diaconu the bum
