It's really a thread bout heavyweights, especially heavyweights on the fringe of contention...Tier 2 guys. That's an interesting subject, but it's from this group that the next genuine contender will either get made or get exposed.

Monte aint getting a Klitschko......just aint gonna happen.

There both starving for better names already. Fury, Dimitrenko, Wach, Welliver, Pulev, Glaskov, Boystov, Helenius, Mitchell, Wilder, Price, Haye, Valuev, Potvetkin........so many names to choose from before giving Monte a shot.

I love the guy, but his best chance at a title is regional, minor, or W(BALONY)A.

 

I agree...Wlad already battered him ages ago and Vitali probably has 2 or 3 more fights tops...he wont choose a Barrett for one of those

 

As much as I like Monte, and as decent as Tua was 49 yrs ago...........neither are relevant in the title picture for the rest of their careers. Chuancey is HIS OWN MAN, and if he chooses to wait on these guys for his road to a title, I guess that's his right.

But as a fan, unaffiliated with his team, but a friend who sees others leapfrogging him in the eyes of the fans, my opinion is for him to keep moving forward, forgetting about the past and continue to call out relative names, even if they're not as well ranked or in his area.

Chuancey could prolly get a fight with Sprott, Harrison, or Danny Williams in GB. He could get Owen Beck, Kevin McBride, or Tye Fields to come to China. He could get Damon Reed or Jason Gavern or Nicolai Firtha for a fight in the States, and he could likely get Meehan or Leipei in OZ. And in Europe there are also several decent journeymen like Bydenko, Gammer, Saliffe that he could find a scrap with as well.

I know he's got his own promotional thing going and that his team is set, but I think Arum, GBP, Suaerland, Universum, or even K2 would welcome him under certain terms.

Thing is about Chuancey.......he's really still a kid in boxing years. He's got plenty of time to get it going. And there's no sense in us crying over fights that don't come, especially when there's still tons of options out there for him.:good

 

Welliver came in at 240.

10 pounds to much. that guy needs to be in recent shape. And 240 is not good.

 

He was suffering from an ear infection and couldn't spar for about 2 weeks I think. Plus like most fighters he likely put on about 15lbs sitting home round Christmas time enjoying family, and moms and wifey's homecooking.

He'll be around 225-235 for his bigger fights, and they are sure to come in 2012.:good

 

Did'nt know that. That makes it okay. Hope it is all better and healthy now.

But yeah. Liked to see Welliver between 225-230, not more than 235 though.

 

Complete and utter bull**** again, unlless you're talking about endurance at the all you can eat buffet bar. I'd like Chauncy try to hang though a Klitschko training session. I'll bet he never even gets in a pool. Not entirely his fault though, he has a joke of a trainer.
