Wlad will no doubt dominate Welliver, but the Old Mercer comparison is silly, he was 42 years old damaged goods, & had lost his iron chin.

Even 50 pounds lighter than in Solis fight he is far from lean. Definitely on right road though.

    Yes I did. Did you?

Mercer still had the goods late. He was ahead on my card against Shannon Briggs well after that. He got caught with a very strange shot to the temple while caught in the ropes. He immediately got up and started demanding a rematch and for Briggs to admit it was a freak deal and not some KO. Briggs got 2 shots and became World HW Champion after that. Mercer was going to work him on the way home with his jab. That guy could still knock some of these younger comers around.

Even Oliver McCall who is 17 years older, and the only HW in the world with a longer HW round streak without getting knocked down, still is a big threat to most of today's HWs. McCall 389 without going down, Welliver 331. 17 year gap.

Welliver can't beat top 25 guys. He is trying hard to talk himself into a fight.

I dispute that JoeBoxer. Welliver trashes WBO #3 or 4, Boxrec Top 25, David Tua. Who he has been interim champ to for way over a year. Meehan is rated Top 15 in a couple orgs, Welliver beats him right now. Derrick Chisora is about to be exposed by the raw Fury, but Welliver would do the same to him. They are not in the same league. Chisora is a UK domestic scene guy, the next coming of Michael Sprott.

I did, on the Vitali-Peter undercard. I wouldn't have asked the question if I didn't.

I'm not saying he should get a Klitschko fight or anything, but he's the same age as a lot of the top prospects out there, only he's actually been fighting on a consistent basis. I'd just like to see him in there with a top 20 type sometime again in the future. Unfortunately, I have only seen one of his fights since Solis, so I have no idea how much he's actually improved. People say he has, and he looked like crap in the Solis fight (I'd seen him a few times before then and he'd never looked that bad or that out of shape prior).

The level of competition he has recently faced hasn't made it easy to get videos from his fights especially here in EU. After Solis fight I have only seen him fighting Galeb Brown. I wasn't too impressed after the bout. He had lost quite a lot of weight and was more active but he wasn't by any means lean and mean. He had still too much fat. He used a lot of wide looping punches and was very open for counters. I think there is still a lot to do before he should be put into same ring with Klitschko. He would be eaten alive by either of the K brothers.

He should continue losing weight like he has done since Solis fight. That should help him move a bit easier in the ring when he doesn't have to drag that fat with him. There is also in my opinion a lot of work to be done with his defence and punching. And he should definitely face some quality opponents before getting in to title fight. Maybe we could even get to see his fights when he faces some better fighters.

Chauncy needs to get a top ten fight, maybe against the Tyson Fury vs Chisora winner. The winner of that fight fights Wlad.

That David Rodriquez is BARKING. He's a big guy and is looking for a named opponent so he can get ranked.

Was Rodriquez if he fights Welliver.

DaveRod would be a great fight. Somebodies 0 has got to go!

King Pin Johnson never called out Welliver for the Holyfield PPV. Welliver called out Monte Barrett for that card. Johnson stated to the press that Welliver chose to swim back to New Zealand rather than fight him. But Welliver was never offered the fight.

All I can say on that is, at least Chauncy would throw the strokes to swim to New Zealand. Kevin Johnson would just tread water until he got drowned.
