News in today that Kody Davies will box Morgan Jones in March 2019. A tantalizing fight for welsh boxing; two prospects going at it early on their careers. Davies has sparred the likes of Smith, Eubank JR and Groves whereas Jones appears to be better-seasoned at this stage in his career. Jones' only defeat being a controversial stoppage in the last few seconds of a fight he was winning on the undercard of AJ v Parker. Boxing in Wales is booming and has some of the brightest prospects in and amongst the small hall scene. For those who are yet to hear, I will outline some below; Jacob Robinson (3-0) Super-Bantamweight and son of former World Champ Steve Robinson Nathan Thorley (11-0) Light-Heavyweight trained by Gary Lockett Alex Hughes (11-0) trained by Gary Lockett, promoted by Frank Warren and stopped an opponent quicker than GGG Jay Harris (14-0) Flyweight and Commonwealth Champion Andrew Selby - the name speaks for itself he is genuinely World Class and schooled Rosales Gavin Gwynne (10-0) Lightweight and current Welsh Champion Joe Cordina (8-0) Lightweight and ex-Olympian Boxing in Wales is booming. There are many I haven't included i.e. Mitchell Buckland, Fred Evans, Liam Williams, Craig Evans, Lee Selby etc. Hopefully they're given exposure and not brought in as 'opponents' as there might be some very upset prospects and promoters!
BREAKING NEWS Kody Davies has been forced to pull out following a family tragedy. Morgan Jones will now face Anthony Fox over 8rds. Thoughts are with Kody and his family at this sad time.
