    that was nice, i still can't understand what the hell they're saying but it does sound good. it's uncommon for us to sing along with the national anthem at sporting events... anyways, since we're on the subject - here's a good untraditional rendition that puts that tool Ray-J to shame. for some reason from what i've noticed many Europeans do not dig the funk but i still think this is a classic:

    right before his death too i think, RIP

    Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau

    Mae hen wlad fy nhadau yn annwyl i mi,
    Gwlad beirdd a chantorion, enwogion o fri;
    Ei gwrol ryfelwyr, gwladgarwyr tra mâd,
    Dros ryddid collasant eu gwaed.

    Gwlad, gwlad, pleidiol wyf i'm gwlad.
    Tra môr yn fur i'r bur hoff bau,
    O bydded i'r hen iaith barhau.

    Hen Gymru fynyddig, paradwys y bardd,
    Pob dyffryn, pob clogwyn, i'm golwg sydd hardd;
    Trwy deimlad gwladgarol, mor swynol yw si
    Ei nentydd, afonydd, i mi.

    Os treisiodd y gelyn fy ngwlad tan ei droed,
    Mae hen iaith y Cymry mor fyw ag erioed,
    Ni luddiwyd yr awen gan erchyll law brad,
    Na thelyn berseiniol fy ngwlad.

    And the English translation:

    The land of my fathers, the land of my choice,
    The land in which poets and minstrels rejoice;
    The land whose stern warriors were true to the core,
    While bleeding for freedom of yore.

    Wales! Wales! fav'rite land of Wales!
    While sea her wall, may naught befall
    To mar the old language of Wales.

    Old mountainous Cambria, the Eden of bards,
    Each hill and each valley, excite my regards;
    To the ears of her patriots how charming still seems
    The music that flows in her streams.

    My country tho' crushed by a hostile array,
    The language of Cambria lives out to this day;
    The muse has eluded the traitors' foul knives,
    The harp of my country survives.

    Now that I can appreciate - reason being that it's Marvin, and he earnt the right to sing it how he wants. That, and you know that if Marvin did it straight up, no frills, he'd absolutely nail it...

    come to cardiff for the final JC fight and hear us sing the anthem it will send shivers down you spine no matter what country you are from.

    i did not enjoy American anthem last night i am a traditionalist and do not like it when people mess with it

    I thought we were brilliant. Sure there was a bit of friendly booing of Hopkins but everyone appreciates him and I was ready to stand and applaud him if he'd given even the slightest credit to Joe but he went down in my estimation for not doing that. There was silence for the American anthem and we belted ours out. 90% of the Calzaghe lot were Welsh, there were quite a few Scots there though! :good

    On the fans , i think Hatton's fans reflect him , and Calzage's reflect him. Calzage is a boxing man, in the tru sense of the word, and his fans are boxing fans who believe he is a great fighter. Hatton is a snake (im not gettin' into it, will take too long!), and his fans aren't boxing fans (by large), but just beer guzzlin' hooligan Brits.

    Im from the North-West of England BTW, so there's no bias here, im a boxing fan and know whats right.

    I still think B-Hop won the fight aswell.

    You're right there, I'm from the Noth West too, and everyone watched Hatton even though only about 5% had ever seen a boxing match before.
