Sure not to be a crowd pleaser, prime for prime, Gavilan of the Bratton era and May of the Hatton era... How do you see this one playing out over 15 rounds?

assuming 12 rounds with todays rules: mayweather by decision.
assuming 15 rounds with those rules: Gavilan by decision

    Mmm tough matchup.

I’ll go with Floyd, the consistent performer with brilliant reflexes.

Gavilan could definitely win this though.
Floyd had some issues with tricky fighters.

I like Gavilan and his workrate. He had blazing speed, great stamina and an iron jaw. Punched from all angles too. It would be a fascinating matchup.

I like Gavilan for those same reasons. I think Floyd may be a greater fighter P4P but not as a Welterweight.

Yes one could easily slip Floyd ahead P4P, for sure. The Kid was a bit inconsistent but was a mob controlled fighter after all and fought many top shelf opponents. Floyd scaled the weights and was consistent regardless.

Gavilan hung tough with prime Sugar Ray Robinson. Taking Gavilan, v PBF at welter.

A real pick'em fight. I'm going with Gavilan by close decision but not with a lot of confidence. I think Gavilan was a greater welterweight than Floyd but didn't punch that hard. But I think he would probably just outwork Mayweather.
