Bare With Me Cause I Don't Want This Thread Turning Into A Big Hate Fest...

But Regardless Of What Is Going On In The Division There Is A lot Of Smoke And Mirrors going on...

Lets Start With Margarito... Margarito is like the alleged top dog of the division [(rightfully so) or at least tied with top dog with pw] After just watching parts of Margarito vs Clottey (a review from when i saw it live) this fight could have went either way (or even a clottey victory) pending on clottey's injury status the jury is still out on whether clottey is a faker or not but clottey was doing enough to beat margarito assuming he didnt get injured theres a chance he could pull off the victory. add that in with margarito's razor thin loss to Paul Williams and you have a margarito who is basically 3rd/4th in the division with no cotto victory under his belt

Lets Move on to Clottey.... Clotty who lost to margarito (fairly so) has enough talent and skill to easily give cotto & paul williams a good fight and if he had beaten margarito the first time around would be looking at a much better scenario than he is now...In a rematch he could (hypothetically) beat margarito were looking at the same 4 man race we were looking at aroudn the time oscar and floyd were fighting...

now Paul Williams....Paul Williams is still riding the wave of beating the #1 (aleged) guy in the ww division ( margarito ) which was a very close fight an in a rematch could go either way in the eyes of a lot of people.... if paul williams had lost the margarito fight he would probably be in a very tough position.... but on the other hand if he uses the same game plan that margarito executed on cotto could very easily defeat cotto in the same fashion that margarito did but depending on his his face holds up under cottos punches... mix that in with josh clottey and we either have the clear cut #1 in the division or just more confusion

Now Miguel Cotto .... The former p4p #3 fighter in the world... This guy was approaching boxing royalty before running into antonio margarito which basically completely took him off the map.... but possibly with a different game plan and maybe not breaking his nose as some have claimed hes done.... would re-assert cotto as one of the best.... but then you still have paul williams and clottey ... paul williams being a taller & faster margarito and clottey being a big ass defensive specialist .... both of which could give cotto great fights and possible losses sending him back down the totem pole....

All In All.... The current welterweight situation is just smoke and mirrors until all four of these opponents face off one another and define 1 clear cut champ

Cotto and Margarito fought for the Welterweight World title, Margarito won...wheres the confusion?

A fighter can lose on his way to becoming world champ, its happened before and itll happen again, so Williams beat Margo, Margo is still the Guvnor...

Agreed:good. why can't they just do it like the throwbacks did back then and everybody fightin each other? like floyd told margo, it's all about making the smart business decisions. oscar taught him well

the confusion is forget all this belt crap...
    williams beat margarito
but in a rematch margartio could beat williams
    margarito beat clottey
but in a rematch clottey could beat margarito
    margarito beat cotto
but in a rematch cotto could beat margarito
williams can beat cotto but cotto could beat williams
clottey could beat cotto but cotto could beat clottey

doesnt seem that clear to me... with the exception of a dumb belt

what do you mean williams is out of the picture... at the end of his last fight he said he would come back down to 147 and making the weight is not an issue

Cotto wouldn't beat Margarito in twenty goes.

Ricky Hatton has said for years (according to Steve Bunce) that Cotto can be broken - let's face it, that was proven when he met Margarito.

Williams has the reach and the beard to give Margo hell again, power doesn't matter obviously...... but Margo would actually throw punches in the first four rounds next time..... and may edge him to a UD/SD.

Clottey is a funny case - I don't think he will get the opportunity to prove how good he is, for quite a while anyway.

im saying we could easily see
    marg clottey II
    williams marg II
    clotey williams I
    clottey cotto I
    cotto williams I
    in the future

and margarito cotto II is already aroudn the corner...

for margarito or cotto hell come back... thats he has said and is on record

If i were Williams i would challenge the winner of Cotto and Jennings for the belt he vacated. It would be a smart move since he didn't lose the belt.

Williams got stripped because nobody at 147 is willing to fight him...it isn't his fault he asked for the fights and the fighters turned him down...They stripped him because he was taking fights at other weights...I got Williams over any 147 lb fighter period...with that said he can be beat and it wouldn't surprise me if margo or clottey beat him

There's no welterweight champion ... every since PBF left ... the division has been in disaray ...

I agree walk with me ... now that Paul Williams has left the equations the division is now more in limbo.

    Margarito - lost to Williams
    Cotto - lost to Margarito
    Williams - lost to Quintana
Quintana - lost to Williams and Cotto
Berto - undefeated, flashy, but untested

There's no clear cut champion ... the ring magazine belt was vacant and still has no rightfull owner ... Margarito wasn't top 3 in the rankings and Cotto was #1, I think Shane and Paul were #2 and #3 ... so there's no way that Margarito could possibly have the welterweight championship.
