Mayweather leaving if anything, has opened everything right up. So many mouth watering fights/fighters.

    First off, the top dog:

Miguel Cotto. Not much more needs to be said. Top level p4p elite fighter, very exciting guy, willing to fight anyone.

Paul Williams- Still learning as a pro, and still an excellent fighter. Not some bum who has been exposed, but rather an in-experienced pro who had a great learning experience against Quintana. The guy has more reach than Ali, and is now finally starting to use it. Not pushing volume arm punches, but keeping his distance, and snapping his punches. When he fights like this (like at times vs Marg) he is a very tough guy to beat. Not ready for Cotto yet, would love to see him tidy up his defence, and improve his game. Lots of potential.

Shane Mosley- Genuine elite level fighter, even at this age. Strength, speed, skill, experience, stamina. The whole package. Very tough fight for anyone right now. Will fight against anyone as well. Should pick up anoher title vs anyone but Cotto.

Antonio Margarito- Very tough, crude yet honest fighter. Uses his incredible intangibles to his advantage. Relentless pressure, tenacity and an outrageous workrate. Will once again be very tough for anyone in the divsion. Genuine world class fighter, capable of capturing a title again, however not against Cotto.

Joshua Clottey- Under rated. Very tough, good handspeed, good power. Genuine world class guy. Definitely has the ability to win a title, however with the depth in the division, it is a big ask. Would be a test for any fighter within the divsion.

Zab Judah- Why people are calling this guy shot is beyond me. If anything, he has proven that he can't compete with the very top dogs in the sport. Has also proven to be a world class fighter though, who is highly unpredictable. Can still win a title against the right opponent. Still hungry, and willing to fight anyone.

Andre Berto- Very exciting prospect. Witten off by many, but is showing definite improvement. Good handspeed, good power. I personally think he will win a title, as long as it isn't vs Cotto. World Class. Given time to develop, will be a legitimate top guy in the division.

Luiz Collazo- Solid world class fighter, seemingly forgotten by many after his performance vs Mosley. Still could challenge for a title. Still could pull an upset. Could match up very well stylistically to certain fighter. Definitely no easy beat.

Carlos Quinatana- Coming off a massive loss, in bad fashion. Age isn't on his side. Still, has the ability to cause an upset. Genuine world class fighter. Unpredictable also.

Kermit Cintron- Will not win another title. Proved himself to be world class, although barely at that. Would be beaten IMO by any of the other fighters mentioned here, although will always have a punchers chance.

Show me a division with that sort of talent. Unbelievable. 130/135 has really been heating up, and probably comes close. Still, this division is going to be alive and kicking for a long time now. Mayweather moving out, is the best thing that could of happened.

What are the best match ups to be made in your opinion? How do you see things unfolding, in a tournament?

Agreed. He got caught cold in the first round. Doesn't mean he is a bum though, no way in hell. The guy has skills. He is however inconsistent, and doesn't have the best punch resistance in either chin or body.

agreed. and 135 hands down the second best division in boxing right now. that i like about 135 is that 4 marquee match ups are already planned for the year

pac-diaz, guzman, campbell, casamayor-jmm and diaz-katsidis. the guys at 147 have a bit of catching up to do in terms of making the most meaningful fights but 147 is definitely the deeper division

122 is not so horrible either with Juanma upsetting De Leon. There are a few good fights at 122..I do agree about 147 though, deep deep talent

Nice job, you insult me and accuse me of saying and doing things I never did. When have I ever made excuses about Quintana losing, if you think I did then quote me. I wasn't the one accusing a world-class fighter and former world champion of being a 'bum', any man who has the balls to step in the ring has my respect (obviously you don't respect them).

Also i don't hate on people who have different opinions to me, actually I welcome it as it makes this place far more enjoyable in a way. If you can find a quote of me 'hating' on someone for having a different opinion then show me. The thing is I just don't like people who first accuse world class fighters of being 'bums' and then insult me. Not to mention you called Cotto a 'chump' in another thread.

I was planning on posting in this thread until I read what you wrote, so I decided to reply to that first. Nice job of twisting that into making Quintana my 'boyfriend' (In reality im not even a big fan of Quintana).

and his stamina sucks and his handspeed is pretty below-average at that level as is his power.

but i agree he's not a bum. Above average smarts, good accuracy too, very nice footwork

Except that Jones is at 175, Pavlik, Abraham 160, Calzaghe is arguably out and Taylor not in yet

I would exchange 168 with cruiser:

Haye, Cunningham, Adamek, Mormeck, Bell, Tokarev, Kraj, Maccarinelli, Flores, wlodarczyk and a few othes

well I listed all the players at 168. Even though some of those guys are not techinically at 168, they could all fight there very comfortably except for maybe Roy Jones, which is why i put a question mark even though he said he could

don't forget that Abraham is fighting at SMW in just a few days.

I think the Lightweight division has creeped up and taken the lead as the best division in boxing, but Welterweight is right behind it. There are a lot of possible matchups at 135, and they're starting to happen already. Pacquiao, JMM, Juan Diaz, Campbell, Katsidis, Guzman, Casamayor...then Khan and Peterson are coming up. They can all take turns fighting each other for the next two years or so and I'm good.

As far as Welterweight's go... It's deep too. Matchups I want to see are Cotto vs. Margarito of course!
    also....
    Cotto vs. Clottey
    Cotto vs. Williams
Berto vs. any top 10 fighter (Collazo, Judah, Quintana, etc.)
    Williams vs. Margarito II
Mosley vs. Judah/Clottey winner or Williams
    ...ANY UNIFICATION FIGHT!!

135 does have the most # of elite fighters now with pac, jmm, probably guzman and A-level fighters in campbell, casa, probably j. diaz... so, i have to say that 135 is the best right now.

the only elite fighter @147 is cotto... hatton is staying @140. mosely is probably the only A-level fighter there and the rest are at most B.
