The new ring magazine rules say if #1 & #2 don't fight but #1 fights #3 that can be for there belt. So if Porter (#4) beats Thurman (#3) that would put him at 3 at the worst and as Brooks holds a win (albeit a slim one!) over him make him Ring champ on a technicality? Meaning that it could be on the line also for the Vargas unification?
Brook is the number one in the division for me. The fact the Vargas negotiations are taking so long despite him being offered huge money sums up how difficult it is to get people to face Kell.
By the sounds of things it's done, it just isn't official yet because it's a stadium fight and the football season starts in august and they have 27th august or sept 3rd to show the fight. They won't know which until the 22nd june because thats when the fixture list is out. It will depend on which date Sheffield United play at home. If they play at home on 27th august the fight will be sept, if they play at home 20th august it will be 27th i'd assume. I would guess they want the august date
shows your level boxing knowledge the guy has one win on his resume against a decent name and the rest are all tomato cans, and he's the best? atsch brook can come to the usa and get all the fights but he wants to hide in england and use this excuse as the most avoided fighter, he even ducked bradley when he was not champion...excuses, excuses
While i do agree it cant be argued brooks 1 win is better than the other welterweights except bradley? Although his best is marquez and you could argue marquez isnt really a welterweight.. it will look even better if porter beats thurman ( i dont think he will though).
Why does every fight have to be in a stadium these days? 80% of the crowd will get a terrible view. Eddie's greed has really got out of hand.
By playing x is 'technically' better than z because x beat y who beat z; Audley Harrison is better than Ali, Moore and Robinson... Sometimes 'technicalities' are not the way forward...
Come to the US and get all the fights he wants? Why would he do that when he makes far more in the UK? Errol Spence is the next big thing in boxing according to the US fans and yet he and his team aren't interested, Vargas is stalling over a massive career high pay day, etc etc. His resume may be thin, but there's no denying he is avoided.
