Well we know that Cintron and Williams are talking about a fight early next year which would bring the IBF and WBO together. I'm pretty sure we all want to see the winner of Cotto-Mosley fight the winner of Hatton-Mayweather which would bring the WBC, WBA, as well as the Ring Mag. Personally I think it can go a few different ways. What we do know is it would be an extremely monumental feat. I don't think any of the current belt holders could be totally discounted. Shane and PBF would probably be the favorites. My pick: Shane Mosley I'm not really 100% as I feel all have a credible shot. So your thoughts and TRY to be unbiased. Thanks
You'd better hope that Hatton does not win the WBC title then. There's no way he fights Mosley or Cotto.
hatton should stay at 140 after mayweather. i dont think he has a chance against Cotto, cintron, margarito, pwil, clottey, mosely, or mayweather, but the fight with mayweather will juse be a nice payday for him. would hate to see hatton become another gatti. i know he is a lot better than gatti, but who knows after repeated beatings?
Its funny the same guys that talk about all of these ABC belts are the same screaming for unification. Always entertaining.
Anyone else here thinks that a PBF-Williams fight may stylistically follow the pattern of Leonard-Hearns 1?
Well it's not so much the belt but the boxer holding it. I agree, with all the main 4 and the Ring it can dilute certain divisions. Usually their is a "clear" champion however it is the goal and destiny of a true champion to beat down the "so-called" champions. Case in point: Juan Diaz, also the big fight tonite with Joe and Mikkel(which by the way would be for all the marbles if Joe did'nt choose to fight the clown Manfredo.)Ultimately the question is "Is it good for boxing?" The answer quite easily is yes its better for everyone most importantly fans. Not only that but it's good to see a fighter bring clarity and determination to a sport certainly not known for it.
Well if Hatton wins he most likely wont keep it. The WBC would probably give it back or raffle it off
Williams will punch a lot more than Hearns and put less power in his shots. Floyd will not be looking for the KO punch like SRL was. But, in a very, very superficial sense, yeah they might be a bit similar.
**** this unification ****. floyd is the undisputed champ in that class. all roads lead to him regardless of what those fraud belts mean. belts are meaningless. All the fighters know they have to beat him to be the man, otherwise, they are just second place. hes not pound for pound for nothing.
If we are lucky we get a huge spring showdown with Mosley-Mayweather for the belts(they are my picks)around that time Cintron-Williams will have just unified in February so its possible.
Arent you intelligent. It's pretty amazing how people become captivated by hype and in turn lip lock the nuts of an overated and overhyped fighter. In the past 7 years PBF clearly beat Corrales, Judah, Gatti, Baldomir and struggled against a faded De La Hoya. Big ****in deal. He avoided Tszyu, and Mosley till now. Now lets see if he avoids Cotto, Mosley, Cintron, Williams or Margarito. Chances are he will. Just an FYI for all you PBF ball lickers these are not qualities a true champion posseses. P4P blow it out your ass. Everyone said the same about Roy Jones Jr. until he met a healthy non-faded, B class fighter and thats that
If Hatton wins, there's a 100% chance that there's a Hatton-DLH fight for that belt. No doubt about it. That probably prevents 100% unification, although having the Cotto/Mosley winner face Margarito, and then the winner of that faces the Cintron/Williams winner seems to make a lot of sense. However, since there's a 100% chance that Mayweather beats Hatton, all of that is moot. Mayweather fights the Cotto/Mosley winner, then if Mayweather wins there's probably no more unification, but if Cotto/Mosley wins, then there's probably a unification fight with the Williams/Cintron winner.
Definitely. I'm not going to complain. I just don't see Mayweather fighting Cintron or Williams, no matter what. They're just too big for him, and he knows it. He'd probably still win, but Mayweather likes to play it safe and fight guys who are good style matchups for him, and neither of them would be. Cintron would be by far the hardest puncher he's ever faced, and Williams would be by far the tallest guy he's ever faced (and probably the highest workrate guy as well). He could probably potshot his way to victory against either, but each one would be too much of a risk for him to take without there being enough money behind it.
