Welterweight Unification?

In order to be the champion, you have to beat all the other title holders. The ABC belts are garbage because it leads to a situation where you have 4 fighters claiming themselves to be the champ. What's the best way to squash all of that confusion? Fight and beat all of them. :bbb

I don't buy much into "recognized" champs. Speculation by boxing journalists and organizationsn don't add up to much imo...actions speak louder than words.

Sugar Shane vs Vernon Forrest - for undisputed welter title Vernon won

Vernon Forest v Mayorga - for undisputed welter title Mayorga won

Mayorga v spinks - for undisputed welter title Spinks won

Spinks v Zab Judah - for undisputed welter title Judah won 2nd match

Baldomir v Zab Judah - for undisputed welter title (expect for somehow IBF did not sanctino this fight WTF!!!) - Carlos won

Mayweather v Baldomir - for undisputed welter title Mayweather won

There is the ****ing timeline of the welter division for the past decade. Mayweather is the man at 147 wheter you like it or not. Those other belts that the other 'title holders' have are hand me downs from the sanctioning bodies who clearly do not recognize who the champ is. The WBA 'super' champion fiasco diluted the undisputed title, the IBF failing to sanction Judah v Baldmoir diluted it some more. This is why the belts mean nothing. Anyone who watches boxing knows who the undisputed champ is. the man who beat the man who beat the man who beat the man, and so on, and so forth.

 

hey genious, all roads do lead to floyd, but floyd wont open the doors at the end of those roads to give guys a shot, especially if the guys pose a threat. what kind of champion is that, not fighting the best challengers? floyds a good fighter, but a big panty waste when it comes to taking challenges. how are you going to call yourself a great fighter when you've not been in any great fights?

If PBF is ATG to whatever extent? Taking two more fights at WW is NECESSARY!! The blind opinion which he recently expressed on his "legacy", " I didnt have to fight again, before Hatton" is pure and absolute GARBAGE of the highest order:yep

Even as his fan, you have to want those fights, those are the ones that will define his career.

 

Only Unified Titles are considered "Undisputed" you're use of that term doesnt apply to much of you're post.

Yet, Unification is just BC,BA, BF. Just like Calzaghe at 68, the BO can have the real Champ at times. Add in, stripping etc? The "Undisputed/Unfied" scenario isnt a guarantee at least on paper. Floyd won a Lineal title and a Ring title, lets see him DEFEND THOSE!!! Then he can maybe someday be UNDISPUTED.


In reality, beating the other Champs is what its all about, If Floyd beats Hatton? There's two fights ahead at least. Thats hardly anything that hasnt been done before and in ATG context, it's necessary.

 

Mayorga/Spinks was for the IBF, WBA, and WBC titles a few years ago. But bull**** politics broke up the titles. It will happen once again.

 

look, the point i am making is that the belts dont mean ****. Undisputed or Unififed champ in my book mean basically one thing - THE CHAMP. you know, like ali was, like how roy jones was, how bernard was at middle, that kind of champ. The only kind of champ really. Mayweather is the man because he beat the man Baldomir. baldomir beat the man who beat the man, who beat the man, tracing back to shane vs oscar back in 2001. I was going to go farther back in time, but it really wasnt necessary to get my point across. floyd is the man, and the contenders need to accomidate him. They need to make their own exciting fights to generate interest to get floyd's attention so he will fight them. There is no point for mayweather to fight cotto, mosley, paul williams, margarito, cintron, andre berto, etc.... back to back to back. I wish he would, but i understand that boxing is a mother****ing tough game and careers are short. After hatton he will take the cotto/mosley winner. And then maybe paul williams, cintron, and company can sort out who the next contender is. Floyd fought his way to the top. the others need to do the same.

 

Actually, broke ass Baldomir broke up the titles. He didn't want to pay 3 sanctioning fees when he faced Judah. After he won, the IBF belt stayed with Judah(disgracelful), the WBA super champ belt was elimated and Collazo was elevated from WBA regular champ to just WBA champ, and Baldomir kept the WBC belt for himself.

 

very true...and denigrating fighters for not having every belt, knowing damn well those belts dont mean theyre champions.
