Wenfeng Ge vs. Giemel Abuan Magramo & Jing Xiang vs. Suriyan Satorn RBR

Well the more optimistic way of looking at it would be that he just further adds into the already diverse complexion of styles in a talent-rich division.

 

In retrospect I authentically do find Xiang's selection of Fifth Harmony sort of disarmingly quaint and charming

Magramo in canary yellow and white, Ge in black and dull gold, for anyone just tuning in.

(Magramo's trunks also say his name on the front and his nickname "Pistolero" across his butt)

 

Round 1

Magramo is rolling sidelong out of the path of Ge's jabs and piling his own jabs & flurries onto the chest. Neither is throwing with much conviction yet, all pit-pat stuff as they feel each other out. Magramo is investing more to the body, always in combination. Ge is leading with ambush hooks, sometimes thudding against the right eye socket of Magramo, but sometimes just seeing his inner forearm collide with his throat. Magramo seems to be the sort to not fall for the same trick twice, making adjustments in his footwork now when Ge tries that move.

I love how much body work Magramo is putting in early. You can tell he's boxing to a game plan.

 

Round 2

Magramo is nerfing all of Ge's combinations by simply dipping his shoulders in, alternating sides, navigating his way through with only incidental contact if anything, while threading in his own counter jabs on the face and harder skewering body shots every time he makes Ge miss and leave his middle undefended. Ge tries some uppercuts and misses at point blank, but is able to stuff a short right hand into the chin as Magramo admires his defensive work and fails to bring up his guard.

Hate to say it guys but I think January boxing just peaked today with this card. There's nothing on the horizon that I know of that, on paper, should provide us with this much quality and entertainment.
