The weigh in took place in a Champs sports store at a mall across the street from the arena. The fighters weighed in on a podium that was placed in the stores display window which, needless to stay, stirred up much attention from the casual shoppers and onlookers. Both fighters looked to be in excellent shape. Berto, as usual, was ripped and ready. There was a large Quintana contingent present that included what appeared to be members of his family. They excitedly cheered him on throughout the duration of the event. Andre Dirrell was on hand and was loudly heckling Quintana by yelling "It's over for you. And still... And still...". It was all in good spirits. Nate Campbell was also on hand and was very much approachable. I got to shake the hand of "The Galaxy Warrior" and told him that I was a fan. I also shook the hand of Yordan who went unnoticed by in large. Caballero looked ready. I still can't believe how someone of his height is able to cut down to such a low weight. I'll hopefully soon have the pictures that I snapped posted once I find the blasted USB cord to my camera. Im taking Berto by late stoppage or close decision, although begrudgingly. I can see Quintana also pulling this out, but Bertos in his prime and Quintanas has maybe passed. Im 60/40 Berto.
His optimal weight class is junior middle, really. I remember the stomping he gave Love Child a while back and have been pulling for him ever since. This one I'm torn. I just hope they give us a memorable fight.
I see Quintana making this a very interesting fight for the first half. If his stamina is tip top then perhaps he can even pull off the upset. I however have my doubts that he can cope with Berto's speed particularly late in the fight. I think Carlos will be shaken in the later stages after tiring out, all the while, having to deal with Berto still throwing blistering combos at him. :thumbsup
Both fighters are in their prime. Lets not take anything away from either fighter should they achieve victory.
