Who wins this brawl? for Jersey, I think Tony wins by TKO he would maul Wepner elbows head butts cutting Wepner forcing a stoppage.
Gallento was in a diferent class to Wepner. Notwithstanding his training habits he actualy has a prety good resume.
I mean that despite his training habbits he actualy has some good names on his resume. The stories behind some of his top fights are interesting too. He was basicaly seen as a stepping stone for Lery Haynes and Lou Nova. Honestly you have to ask what he might have done if he had got his prodigeous but into shape.
Galento was as durable as Wepner ,but carried much heavier artillery ,plus he was adept at fouling and cutting a man ,[read about his fight with Nova]. " Two Ton" would have Wepner bleeding like a stuck pig inside 5 rds, the referee would have to stop it.
Galento on a TKO due to cuts is the most likely result in my opinion. The cut probably wouldn't be caused by a punch.
It was reported that Liston dropped Wepner with a hook to the body. If Sonny could do this, then Galento might have been able to as well. Because of the extreme height disparity, I don't think butting would be a likely factor in this one. Tony's corner would probably instruct him to get low and hammer away with the hook downstairs, something Chuck wouldn't have an answer for, except for rabbit punches. He'd have to absorb a good deal of low blows from Two-Ton in exchange for this. The only question in my mind is whether or not Wepner gets to the final bell. Even if he manages to remain unmarked, I don't believe he does. Too many hard hooks would leave him too depleted to reach the final bell.
Galento used the laces and thumbs as well as low blows ,he had Nova wearing an eye patch for weeks after their brawl,Nova was in danger of having permanent eye damage.
He was covered in them . Looked like those old films when they blister a patient with little glasses .
More like a frog among Princes.. Check him out in" On The Waterfront" ,he plays a heavy along with Tami Mauriello
