Yea or how a total inexperinced ground fighter like Kimbo Slice can choke out a former Hw boxing champ like Ray Mercer! Oh wait that was mma?? I forgot only in K-1 do aging ex champs lose to bums.

You are very passive aggressive in your writing tone. In other words, you write like a *****. Take that comment how you like. Write straight and direct so we may have a proper discussion on the subject.

On the subject, yes he out struck overeem in number of shots landed but, he didn't land anything significant. Overeem did more damage with strikes (knocked down werdum serveral times) and stuffed just about every take down.

He beat the guy that beat Silva and Fedor. Overeem is top 3 heavyweight end of story! Big-foot will bang with Overeem and he will get KTFO.

Sapp beat Hoost twice in 2002. Hoost won the K-1 World Grand Prix in 2002!!! After knocking out Hoost, Sapp withdrew because of injury, Hoost took Sapps place and won the tournament. How is that washed up, hoost beat Jerome Le Banner in the K-1 final. Hoost was the best K-1 fighter in 2002 bottom line. Bob Sapp kicked his ass.

There is absolutely no comparison. Taking a really old shot fighter and placing him in a different combat sport , that Mercer never trained for. Compared to a fighter being the World Champion and getting KTFO by someone with no experiance in your own sport. It would be more like Bob Sapp knocking out Lennox Lewis in a boxing match in 2003, being a boxer with no amatuer or pro experiance.

Reem is an incredible striker but his defence is really quite bad. All he does is cover up and he doesn't even do that very well.

Sapp did give Big Nog (no.1 HW at that time) all he could handle.

Hold your horses, dont jump on the bandwagon.

Bob Sapp as mentally weak as he was, is and certainly WAS a physical power house a stronger if less technical version than Brock Lesnar is today.

Time, longevitiy in combat sport and variety of opponents is what gets you in the end.

For example people were raving about Brock as being number one when he beat Mir, but the problem was it was only his 5th fight, yeah he looked good and dominant but we havent seen him in with a variety of styles...i remember clearly saying its too early to start spouting him as great.

Its the same with Cain Velaquez...he only beaten around 4 or 5 top level guys when in the grand scheme of things we need to wait how he does with a variety of styles.

Bobb Sapp was formidable opposition just in terms of the physical more than anything else...he overwelemd E. Hoost who was at the tailor end of his carrer BUT Sapp go stopped by Mirko Crop Cop in his next fight, more he lost the more Sapp went backwards untill you see him getting beat on a regular basis.

Saying that Liddell knocked out Overeem...but that was what? 2003? Nearly 8 years ago....alot has changed...Chuck got knocked out by Evans...do you really think Evans could beat Overeem now?

In a stand up bout, the likes of B. Hari, S. Schilt and A. Overeem would be amongst the most deadly unarmed men.

That was a lot of steroids ago. It changed his career, which was going no where until he hulked up.

PED or not, things are different in terms of using this as accusations that a man has used them becuase he is 30 to 40 pounds heavier just dosent bother me.

We picking needles in haystacks here fellas.

What you had were two top level fighter cancelling each other out, Overeem in my eyes bossed the fight, threw him down, stuffed his take downs and landed the better QUALITY shots.

If people think that Werdum won because Overeem did not want to grapple with him then **** it, Ali lost that Foreman fight because he should not have held he should have swung with Foreman right?

And Ali cheated he used the fact it was a 15 round fight, he instead should have fought a 3 round fight where he was not allow to hold foreman ever?

That 8th round knockout dosent count..the ref counted to quickly.

Exactly your thinking what the ****, same with people wanting Werdum to have won that fight, if anyhthing contary to what people have said Werdum and Overeem stock has climbed ....you can tell they top level fighters and not many people in the world at this very MOMENT could beat them.

    1. A. Overeem (Strikeforce champion and Lineal Champion)
    2. F. Werdum
    3. C. Velaquez (UFC champion)
    4. J. Dos Santos
    5. J. Barnett
    6. A. Silvaa
    7. F. Emelianeko
    8. B. Lesnar
    9. S. Karitonov
    10. S. Carwin

The only names people are talking about that could beat them is Cain and Junior but you cannot rank those two above as they havent them yet.

    On a side note-
In my eyes potentially Cain could well be the main man but first he has to beat Junior who himself is potentially the best fighter in the world...then he has to fight the strikeforce champion and linel whoever that is...this would make him the undisputed lineal champion...untill then i cannot rank him any higher.

the only reason werdum landed anything is because overeem was looking for a take down attempt. If it was a striking only match and overeem didnt have to worry about take down he would KO werdum in 1 round. Overeems stand up is very good. I saw him demolish an australian fighter called ben edwards in 1 round. Im a massive fan of ben edwards and he is a good fighter but overeem is that much better.

Does passivity bother you? Well, you would have hated this guy I saw in an mma match the other night. His name was Alistair Overeem. In the 1st round, over the course of 5 full minutes, Overeem managed to land a light knee to the body, and a hard blocked hook to the head. There was this other boring guy, Fabricio Werdum, that has horrible take downs, but attempted them about every 15-20 seconds. Werdum managed to land several pity pat combinations, but that was about the only fighting that went on that round.
