The thing about the 'phantom punch' is it seemed to be a temple shot and you don't need much power to put someone down from a temple shot. It's not how hard you hit them but where you hit them

I've seen better acting in the WWF/WWE then in those 2 fights...

Liston was a sad individual by the rematch. His heart was not in it. There was no fire in him. Liston felt the odds were against him. Clay was young and excitable, he got under listons skin, deep down he decided he could not do much with clay, he took a beating in the last round of their last fight, this time the kid was better. Young Clay had that effect on a lot of good fighters, they couldn’t catch him and they became frustrated and discouraged. Many knockdowns clay scored early on in his career were not genuine, his opponents quit on him and gave up when they felt they were beat. Liston was the same.

    No, they were not fixed.

Bottom line: Ali bewildered Liston and Liston folded like a cheap suit.

In both cases, Liston couldn't catch Ali and found a way out.

looks to me like he caught him on the jaw - look at the effect on liston's face when it lands.

He catches Folley with a double right hand to the jaw.

Naming Clark is a bad joke - Ali lands huge left hook flush and then a hard right hand straight down the pipe right on the chin.

Thought it was common knowledge that virtually all of Clay/Ali's fights were fixed.Corrupt judging, biased officiating, questionable stoppages,Pre-determined outcomes - you'd be hard pressed to find many wins on the mans record that carry some form of legitimacy.

maybe they were beter punches, the first KD of folley was a single right wasnt it? the thing is it was just a knock down, not a KO because liston continued after the mahem. like prime says liston was bewildered, he just did not want to be there.

    "VIRTUALLY ALL CLAY/ALI'S FIGHTS WERE FIXED.CORRUPT JUDGING,BIASED OFFICIATING,QUESTIONABLE STOPPAGES,PRE-DETERMINED OUTCOMES" ? :huh

How on earth do you come to this conclusion ? Apart from Muhammad's lucky scores on the Jimmy Young and third Ken Norton fight cards, what other fights were you thinking of ?

The only Ali decision wins which i disagree with are Doug Jones, Norton III, & Shavers. All of these were close fights, & many say that close fights cannot be labelled as "robberies" or "gifts". Some claim Young beat Shot Ali, but i'm not certain of that.

I'm an out and out Ali fan,and consider that he lost the third Norton fight by about three rounds. Hardly a robbery,as you infer. The Jimmy Young fight was very messy, and hard to score in certain points. The Jones and Shavers fights were close, but Ali won them both, imo.
