Were De La Hoya and Mclellan "weight bullies"?

Oscar overpowered everyone he fought in the beginning, and nobody could stand up to him, until he moved up to welterweight where guys were finally able to battle him competitively.

Obviously, he made the necessary weight, but still seemed a lot bigger than everyone he fought. I'm aware they no longer hold the weigh-in the morning of the fight, so this gives some guys the chance to replenish.

McClellan was another one I had this feeling about. When he fought Jackson the second time, it was like a light-heavyweight fighting a junior middleweight.

    Anyone's thoughts on this?

Oscar travelled to middleweight. He took his lumps and paid his dues.

There's no such thing as a weight bully. People are all different shapes sizes and lengths. If two people can comfortably perform at the same weight limit then it's a level playing field. No one should be punished for being tall and thin or having long arms or just having extremely low body fat etc.

I'm sure Joey Gamnache after he fought a rehydrated Arturo Gatti would disagree.
When fighters are going into the ring a weight class or two heavier than what's contracted or their opponent. Yes it's a problem.

If he had a problem after agreeing to the fight and weighing in it's called being a sissy and unfortunately there is no cure. If you can make weight you make weight, end of story. It's true in any professional sport where weight is measured

Walk into any legit boxing or mma gym and try using the term weight bully and get ready to be laughed at. You'll be looked at as a coward, a sissy, and an idiot.

Then the rules need to go back to same day weigh in, which eliminates this.

    Not a good example.
Gatti didnt make weight for that fight. The commission was crooked which is why Gamache sued them.

Was this the fight Gatti jumped on then off the scales quickly and the comisssion basically said "good to go"? Wasn't there a fight on that same card where something similar happened?

    Yeah thats it.
Dont know about any other fight on the card with the same issue.
The HBO broadcast briefly show the clip which was later used in court by Gamache’s legal team.
Days after the day he died Gatti was due to fly in NY in court as a witness as the trial was still going on by 2009.
Gatti got on the scales, the scales still moving some commission guy said 141 and that was that.
    Gamache’s people were quickly hushed.

So this rang a bell, and I looked back at some old interviews and articles, one according to Derrell Coley (who fought ODLH on the main of this Gatti card) he had gripes at the weigh in as well

" We're finally there and the day before the fight, we are at the weigh-ins and Oscar De La Hoya didn't make the weight. I weighed in at 146 ½. When De La Hoya got on the scale, the thing hit the top of the beam. He said 147 and they gave De La Hoya something to drink. At this time, I'm pissed because I know they are lying. They have a picture out there with me looking over Oscar's shoulder at the scale. Any fighter can guesstimate someone's weight when they are looking at them. I can look at him and tell he was big. I told my people, "Watch the scale because he looks big." The beam is at the top and he never made the weight. I didn't get any sleep that night because I was so frustrated and upset because they got me this far and now that I was there, they were gonna cheat me"

Arum on the scale that night...
"De La Hoya’s promoter and the promoter of this fight, Bob Arum, was not happy with the scale used by the Garden. “Look at this piece of garbage,” Arum said. “Joe Louis weighed in on this scale.”
