This fight has been completely tarnished by an individual thats scorecard is so bad u can only assume he is corrupt.
Hes a repeat offender numerous fights have been tarnished by his strange scorecards but i get the feeling the British boxing board may be to much of an old boys club for any serious action to be taken expect a thread in a few months again where Oconners the main post fight talking point.
One of Britains top officials, Ian John-Lewis has been severely reprimanded for his scoring performance in the quarter-finals at the recent Prizefighter: The Super-Middleweights tournament at the Olympia in Liverpool on the 23rd March. John-Lewis, a British referee for almost 20 years, scored the quarter-final bout between home fighter Joe Ainscough and Wayne Reed 30-28 to Ainscough, even though Reed knocked the Liverpudlian down in the final round, which should automatically give him a 10-8 round. Somehow the experienced official carded a 10-10 round, giving Ainscough a passage to an all-Scouse semi-final with eventual winner Rocky Fielding and the British Board of Boxing Control have felt compelled to act after a complaint by Reeds team. The 39 year-old from Gillingham, Kent, is pencilled in to referee the high-profile WBC light-heavyweight title rematch between Bernard Hopkins and Jean Pascal on May 21st, but has received a stern warning from the BBBC and will have to be aware of his future conduct or he could be faced with a ban.
In my opinion any card scoring the fight for Smith was bad, i honestly thought it was clearcut Simpson win but 6 ****ing pts
