Were does Chavez rank in the top 50 ATGS?

:thumbsup Kindred spirits Selfkill, I had MAB winning those 2, the Marquez fight was a clear case of paid off judges because while it was a close fight that could go either way 1 judge had it very very wide to Marquez, pure BS

I also had MAB winning the first Morales fight emphatically.

I listed DLHs Tito loss because I felt it was a win and Quartey/Whitaker perhaps losses, hard to mention a gift without the robbery

 

I wouldn't have him much higher than top 40.

 

please also consider that he is the 2nd best fighter in the last 25 years...35-40 is too much bias against modern greats

 

i had taylor winning everyround until the 12th but i acknowledge he was doing it at a price and JCC was getting in great shots but Taylor was just landing so much i had to give it to him but he was winning rounds at too high of price which is what cost him

 

I had Taylor ahead 8-3 (arguably even 7-4) going into the final round. I didn't consider it a domination whatsoever. Taylor was simply landing more punches due to his quicker handspeed and higher punch out-put. Chavez was almost constantly putting in the more effective work, and though Taylor controlled the pace ealy on with his movement in spots, eventually the pace was taken over by Chavez. Taylor fared very well, don't get me wrong, but I generally thought Chavey was getting the better of the latter half in general, and that it was pretty much constantly competitive. The scorecards, IMO, came down to Taylor's superior handspeed and punch output as a result of it. Excellent fight.

 

There's nothing controversal about Chavez beating the crap out of Taylor. It was one of the worst beatings I've seen a fighter take in recent history. Taylor was never the same afterwards. If Steele is to be criticized for anything, it's not picking up on Taylor's condition sooner.

You left out Edwin Rosario, Juan LaPorte, Rocky Lockridge, and many others. How convenient.

Camacho had just turned 30 in a career in which he rarely had a tough fight. He was hardly past his prime. Chavez battered him around the ring. It was an exceptional win. Two years later, when Camacho faced Trinidad, he was a bit past his prime. He was also in the ring with a very big welterweight who on the march. By de la Hoya, I think Camacho was past it.

 

Between top 20 and top 30, no more, no less. Not on Duran's level, higher than Sweet Pea.

 

Ofcourse its controversal, a few more seconds and Taylor gets the win, he wasnt getting a worse beating

Camacho didnt quite look the same supernatural fighter that was at 130-135 when he was at 140 and he was a very athletic fighter and they go off the boil in their late 20s

I left those wins off and I also left good wins off other fighters resumes as I was discussing their very TOP wins, nto a complete resume analysis

 

GOOD WIN?!!! Chavez utterly destroyed a top level fighter in Rosario. Who was considered going in as one of the top Lightweights in the world, as well as being the defending Champion.
And Camacho?? Chavez was chasing him for years, until Camacho finally agreed to a fight.

 

An aging Chavez lost to Whitaker, just like an Aging Whitaker lost to Trinidad. No Shame in that. But why would you denegrade one fighter & not others? Taylor got a rematch, Did he not? As well as Randall got a third fight? But I guess to you that doesn't matter...
