Freddy must have a sore index finger this morning.

Jk man... Ornelas fought pretty damned well. I also thought Hopkins was worse than usual leading with his head, that sh*t was blatant last night.

Paid? :? It was free cable TV, not PPV. Unless you mean admission, in which case the patrons got to see a full card that was really no better or no worse than 90% of local-level boxing promotions that fetch the same ticket price. The Garcia KO of Colin and the Derrick Wilson upset alone were probably worth the $20 or whatever...and assuming most of the Philadelphians there are Hopkins fans and knew exactly what they were in for, it's doubtful they're clamoring for a refund.

Besides, Hopkins-Ornelas was a good, rough battle. :deal

I don't think you get to stay in Philly's city limits if you don't talk sh*t about McNabb.

I went to see the fight at Temple. Hopkins beat him pretty good Orneleas after the 1st was never really in the fight. Hopkins would hit him with a good shot and send sweat into the 5th row and the guy would always answer back. He looked done at times and there were times when I thought hopkins had him and he stayed on his feet and would throw a few back in hopkin's direction. Orneleas was tough and did what he could he could just never time Bernard. The man came to fight and did not lay down for him. that said he did not really do much effective and there was a general feel in my section that Hopkins carried him everytime he had him going he clinched. In the 12th when he beat him pillar to post I looked at my friend and said seemed like he could have done this the entire time.

Nah, it's just the way he fights these days. He conserves energy throughout and then takes one shot late at stopping the guy, and these days he just can't. I think if he could have stopped Ornelas he would have.

He did put down an ass whooping in the 12th though, no question.

Bernard went pretty easy on him. I was sure that it would go the distance, Bernard was never going to ridicule this guy by knocking him out, he wanted the 12 rounds to sharpen up and test the stamina and the boy ornelas is also mosleys freind, who is married to hopkins.

Hopkins won, but his decision not to really lift it out of 4th gear until maybe the final round made it look like ornelas was much closer. If this was a big fight, hopkins would have raised his game, but for ornelas, thats as good as it gets.

It was a pretty boring fight, but hey, Im not complaining, its not everyday I get to watch live boxing mid week.

interesting thread . He keeps doing what he is doing. Guys like Ornelas are needed. They are guys who fight the top guys and are measuring sticks, but to say he will win a title I doubt it.
