Calzaghe deserves to be rated higher based on him being the king of his era, but it is important to note that he did not have to fight anyone near the equivalent of a prime Mayweather or Pacquiao. The equivalent would have been a prime Roy Jones Jr, and he probably would have lost that... ...so don't go in too hard on Ricky.
From Witter losing to Judah in 2000/Hatton vacating the belt in 2000. It took Witter 2 years to eventually fight for the British title, during such time Witter fought 6 times prior to beating 15-10-2 Bosworth for the belt. Those 6 fighters/journeymen had a total career record of 67-52-5. Hatton fought 6 times aswell against fighters who had fought for a Euro/world title or at least had been in with the top contenders. They had a total career record of 198-43-9. Also bear in mind that 25 of those 43 losses was attributed to Freddie Pendelton who although he had 25 losses he was an ex world lightweight champion and had fought TWICE for the 140 belt and fought TITO for the 147 trinket. There I've done the work for you, there is no comparison in their resumes at all. Witter only has himself to blame for the way his career unfolded. This one's for you as well @ashishwarrior
