    interestng question

i noticed some very good amauters turn pro change coaches
who try to change their style(the very same style that brought world sucess)

reasoning, ohh you have to box more like pro now,
    pro style etc

while there are ofcourse many differences between amauter and pro
    its still ****ing boxing.

so i find it odd that guys like povetkin and chagaev
seem liked they were ruined in a way by these coaches

just look at vidoes of them in the amauters
    they seemed to everything better

and i dont care what anyone says
i am not sure they could even beat the amauter less experienced verisons of themselfs.

in the old days, howard davis might be used a case too

Povetkin was doing fine until Atlas came along and mentally destroyed him. Chagaev was ruined by hepatitus/injuries, not his trainer.

Chagaev was ruined by illnesses, injuries and Wladimir Klitschko.

Povetkin was far from perfect as a pro and I think Atlas fixed some holes in his game and got him in better shape and conditioning, his work rate went down but his punch accuracy and picking the right spots has improved, his foot work seems better

Chagaev got hurt by injury illness lay offs age and some weight gain

i still wish he got his fight with Haye but Haye was never gonna leave the UK where they wouldnt sanction Chagaev even though he was a mandatory

Chagaev i think as quite successful as a pro, his Valuev performance is testament to it

the Drummond fight isnt really a fair example

WELL yeah chagaev did win a belt etc, so yeah he had success for sure

but as far at atlas improving his conditoning
    i hope your joking
look at povetkin beautiful work rate and techique against byrd

and look at him at in last few fights
he looks like a chubby red tamato
    now and tends to guess

i dont see this better accuracy, look at povetkin years ago
he just seems to everything better
atlas tried to change the way he boxes

and the thread was more general

you hear many of these sucessful amauters u dont become sucessful pros

everyone says "ohh this or that guy could not adjust"

my question is maybe its not him
but his new coach who is trying to change whatever he is good at
and telling him to do things different.

  10. Interesting how Povetkin's best fights were under Atlas ya dumb ****.

Enlighten us, how were his fights where he went life and death with Marco Huck, got buzzed against Chagaev and won in unimpressive fashion over other C level opposition was better than his pre-Atlas fights where he easily beat Eddie Chambers, Chris Byrd and Larry Donald?

He is WBA world champion. What more do you want from him?

Honestly I think Povetkin needs to fight and beat someone like James Toney or Evander Holyfield so we can see just how good he is.

  13. He didnt fight Huck under Atlas. He fought Huck under a shitty new Euro trainer who dont know **** about boxing.

Atlas had Povetkin mentally prepared and motivated in order to win a fake WBA title over Chagaev. Then Atlas had him be a good combo boxer/puncher against Boswell and those 2 fights were the biggest accomplishments. The WBA fake belt is his biggest accomplishment and that was under Atlas. But Povetkin is such a dumb Russian slob that he didnt want to train in New York so now he is being trianed by some Soviet Union reject who dont know **** about boxing.

You mean the same Russian reject (not a new Euro :nono) trainer that took SNV all the way to WBA greatness?

Please, Atlas changed Sasha's nickname from White Tiger to Alexander "Not ready" Povetkin. It just screams of mental preparation and motivation:hey

He is nothing. That belt is akin to an interim belt, nothing more.

Disgusting how people rant about the alphabet orgs but they try to legitimate their titles when it suits them :patsch
