Were Taylor and Prograis always overrated or have they just past their prime?

?

  1. They were past it and their performance before the fights with Teo/Haney supports this

    37.3%
  2. They were overrated and the division has just gotten more talented with better fighters

    62.7%

When they fought or after they fought many considered Taylor a top 5 if not top 3 P4Per and Prograis was considered one of the best himself.

Fast forward 4 years and both got absolutely pulverized and outclassed by 2 LWs who moved up. Teo and Haney are obviously talents but there was writing on the wall

Taylor - was a massive -1000 to -1400 favorite against Catterall. Most didn't expect a contest and Taylor walked away with a robbery

Prograis - was a massive -1200 favorite against Zorilla. Most expected Prograis KO... Yet he walked away having tasted the canvas with a split decision some thought he lost.

I don't think it was a coincidence 2 of the brightest stars got these 2 after these 2 performances... So that begs question were they past it or were they just overrated and talent in division just got better? Not just those 3 but would you be confident in Taylor or Prograis over Matias?

Teo and Haney are clearly better, but Regis and Taylor were very good champs who suffered from being inactive and messed around after their big fight. it was a long time ago now.

Taylor was never deserving of a P4P ranking.

When fighters lose it isn't always because they are past prime or suddenly got old overnight. Sometimes someone just comes along who is better than them.

Clearly Haney is better than people want to give him credit for.

Teo fought a drained Taylor who looked shite against imo Catteral who isn’t even that good.

Haney looked big against a Prograis who looked trash in his last fight.

Its clear these guys are picking their fights carefully

    Of course it's mismatchhypjob

Haney will get ZERO CREDIT for overcoming a 140lb top guy

Teo will get ZERO CREDIT for overcoming a 140lb top guy

Only Loma gets credit for losing

Always overrated & i had stated that claim before either man looked bad and/or lost, i never really knew what people saw in them two even more so in Taylor,

Josh's fight with Ramirez would have shown you things in that fight that others would overlook & totally miss even though it was a good win for him.

I rated Taylor highly but since his big win over Ramirez he’s looked absolutely bang average and I think the division has simply got a lot deeper. Him and Prograis are not on the level of Lopez, Haney, or even Matias.

How can you lot completely downrate Taylor/Prograis given the condition they were in Teo/Haney fought them in?

you guys really oblivious to context?

140 has always been trash. It is sandwiched between two of the most prestigious and most competitive weight divisions in boxing. It is usually where boxers who can't make it at lightweight or welterweight go to hide.

I've been ages saying that Taylor and Prograis are ridiculously overrated.

Like wise. People focus too much on belts rather than what they see in the actual ring. Just because Taylor was undisputed does not necessarily mean he was some great fighter. There are other examples of this in the past like Spinks jnr and Jermain Taylor.
