Were the four kings of the 1980s really scared of Aaron Pryor?

    Fair enough.

But it would still fall way short of an argument for Robinson beating some of the greatest HWs.

I picked Pryor to beat Duran and Benitez. Not Leonard and Hearns.

you don't know and you dont care?

you mean you DO KNOW and you DO care!

get it thru your head: when fighter A backs down from fighter B in face to face challenge, he's SCARED!

it's really that simple so let's stop with the pretending already you great big SRL fan pretending he's not!

Ray, already beaten by a shorter Duran, knocked senseless by Camacho, loses here as well

    Pryor W U 15 Leonard

Those would be intriguing fights at 140, but they were both at 154 when Pryor was done with Arguello. Duran had slowed by then, so maybe Pryor could outhustle him. Benitez would probably be too much though seeing how he more or less peaked at the weight.

It's a good thing Leonard ducked out of that fight with Aaron. The accumulation of punishment from Aaron's fists would've had Ray reeling throughout the sordid affair, like a Terry Norris double left, like a Hector Camacho left cross to the chin, like a Kevin Howard right cross to the chin, like one of those clubbing rights from Don Lalonde, like a Roberto Duran right-left combo, like a Willie Fireball Rodriguez, hook to the head, like a Marcos Geraldo right cross.....

We know that Lonnie Smith completely destroyed Bill Costello six months before Argeullo fought him.

Arguello did not face the prime WBC champ version of Costello.

What matters is that before facing Pryor, the only 140 lb. guy Arguello beat was Kevin Rooney.

Of course, I would favor Arguello over Mamby, Haley, Bruce Curry and even prime Costello.

But, the fact remains Aaron Pryor's best win was over a guy, Arguello who had barely fought at 140 lbs.
Add to this that Pryor never fougght at 147 lbs until he was a coked out shell, and there is absolutely no evidence that he could beat prime 147 lb champs like Duran, Benitez, Hearns and Leonard.

Nobody here, but you, thinks Pryor edging Hearns in an amateur fight would have any bearing on a fight between the two, if it had happened at 147 lbs in the 1980-82 time period.

Hearns was a stick and move 17 yrs old when he fought Pryor, who was physically more mature at 21 yrs old

By 1980 Hearns was a KO assasin, who totally destroyed an iron chinned established 147 lbs champion in Pipino Cuevas.

Yes, Pryor kod a fading Cervantes in the same time period.

But, Hearns beat a bigger guy than Pryor did, who was still prime.

    Advantage Hearns.

In all honesty, I think Saoul Mamby could beat Alexis Arguello, at least this version.

Prime post, Hearns would own Pryor. Pryor wasn't exactly hard to hit, particularly with right hands. Arguello, a much much smaller man with far less handspeed landed plenty. More than a little black bottle would be required to survive these from Hearns.
