With a death in the sport in the same week that is understandable.

After what happened to Magomed Abdusalamov, New York takes its **** seriously now.
They would rather check Wilder out before sending him to slaughter.

BS for Ortiz but good for the sport.

What a stupid ruling, so why wasn't Ortiz given a once over after getting dropped in the 5th and the final round?

It did stink that Wilder was given that extra time but i thought the ref did ok overall i didnt get a feeling of double standards and cheating. Just one of those things. The score cards were shocking though. No way was he winning that fight.

Not sure if its been mentioned but pretty sure Ortiz was on his way to a short ten count that first knockdown in the tenth. Think the ref started at five. The second knockdown before even really looking at it...he grabs Ortiz and stops it. Add that to the judges. Then the twenty seconds before round seven. Their getting more blatant with the cheating.

I'm not sure this was mentioned by any of you sore losers either.

Ortiz went down with 1:25 to go in the 10th. The referee didn't reach eight until 1:15 (10 seconds after he'd gone down) and the ref didn't wave them together for another eight to 10 seconds (around 1:05).

That's 20 seconds for the first knockdown in the 10th.

At the end of the fifth, Ortiz goes down with 12 seconds to go. The referee doesn't waive them together for another 18 seconds and the bell rings, well after the round should've been over.

As I said in another thread, the Dempsey-Tunney Long Count was 18 seconds. The referee gave Ortiz 20 seconds and 18 seconds before waiving Wilder in both times Ortiz was dropped.

And I've seen guys spit out their mouthpieces when they were dropped and it didn't take 20 seconds to resume the fight. It's not like Wilder was hovering over him. Wilder RUNS to the neutral corner when he drops a guy.

Get over it. Wilder knocked him out.

If Wilder was standing at the end of the fight he was going to win. The scorecards were laughable.

Of course he was. When was the last time a champ scored three or four knockdowns in a title defense and didn't get the decision against his challenger?

No wonder why he won’t find his passport and fight Joshua in the UK.

The scorecards before that point make what you said useless. Wilder wasn’t going to lose the fight unless he was KOed and after seeing the referee help him out I am not sure he wouldn’t have been carried back to the corner by the referee and given time to continue.
