I don't have a horse in this race mate. I ve congratulated wilder on his win. Great win. Ortiz the most skilled man in the division. Obviously older and made for wilder but regardless a great step up for wilder and win. But that to me was a fast count. I think the ref picked it up at 5 seconds. I know its ten seconds from being downed but are any of them exactly ten seconds from hitting the canvas. I think most knockdowns or restards end up longer than ten seconds. I m not sure on the rules but at least start your count at one. If its not in the rules it should be.

Starting at five doesn't really give the guy a chance to get to his feet.

-- Wore his silly mask while being escorted out by washed up has been Lil Kim already knowing the fight was fixed.
-- During the stare down during the refs instructions, the look of disgust from Ortiz was fantastic.
-- Had an ugly beard to try and protect his fragile chin.
-- Continuously rocked by Ortiz jabs, a heart patient, which caused him to stumble all over.
-- Almost knocked down by previously mentioned heart patient, who was also off his meds.
-- Ortiz had him just about out, and like Zack Morris, Wilder was saved by the bell.
-- Ortiz took it easy on him the next round, and Wilder landed a few lucky punches for the win
-- Joshua will KO him round 3.... if he dares.

He was very close to punching Ortiz when grounded in Rd 5 too - a habit I've seen him display before.

This is the very reason I dislike MMA; when a man is down you let him get back up before resuming your onslaught.

As for the fight overall: dodgy scorecards, but no more than to be expected when in the champ's backyard. Ortiz didn't do much either, and Wilder has poor skills.

kiwiman and cst had it 6-3 Ortiz
    pinoyprodigy had it 7-2 Ortiz

All 3 judges had it 5-4 Wilder, this is very inconsistent.

    No you don't.

It's called "picking up the count."

When the guy goes down, the count begins outside the ring. When the referee is sure the guy scoring the knockdown is the in the neutral corner he "picks up the count" from the official outside the ring. He picked up the count "at five."

Then he started counting slowly for some reason. Because by the time he got up, Ortiz had already been down 10 seconds (1:15). Then he gave him nearly another 10 seconds before he resumed the action.

The knockdown occurred at 1:25 and the fighters were waved back in at roughly 1:05.

I take back what I said - Wilder went in after the knockdown and taunted Ortiz but did not try and swing at him. He has done it before though (Audley Harrison fight springs to mind).

Still dodgy cards and he's still a relatively fragile world champion with poor fundamentals and a wicked right hand.

No they don't. They don't go to the cards after nine rounds. They go to the cards after 12.

Had Ortiz even survived the round, who would've had Ortiz up after 10, when he'd been floored three or four times?

And he couldn't survive the 10th anyway.

Who watches the Thrilla and Manila and complains that Frazier was down six points on one card and down by five and four points on the two others with one round to go - when most ringsiders had it dead even?

It was an exciting fight. The champ stopped him. It's over. Deal with it.

The cards played no factor at all in the outcome. NONE.

Wilder benefited from Ortiz's age, Ortiz's shorter height and arms, and Ortiz's plodding style. Ortiz had some trouble getting to Wilder to do not being as athletic, and the deficits I already mentioned.

Cards were acceptable. People forget how many times Ortiz tasted canvas. People also act like many of the rounds were clearcut. They weren't. I had Ortiz ahead, but could see a slim margin for Wilder. Also note that the three judges are stuck on different sides of the ring looking through the ropes. They have the same shitty viewpoint all fight, so there is always going to be a margin of error with that. It wasn't like they had Wilder up by three or four points

You can't please everybody. It was a remarkable performance by both fighters and both fighters should get credit, but the usual haters have to gripe and complain about everything just to diminish the Victory.

Was it slated a bit? Sure. But it doesn't matter, Wilder won fair and square.
