I would call both these fights "one punch knock outs" personally, but I've noticed some postors have different criteria for characterizing certain KOs as "one punch KO".

    Opinions please.

EDIT : On reviewing the second fight, it is clear to me that Lewis won with a two-punch combination (left hook-roundhouse right), so it's not in fact a one-punch KO by my reckoning.

So essentially, Lewis -Rahman ll was a one punch ko too.....since no one gets ko'ed by a jab alone.

Bob Foster set up **** Tiger with a right uppercut...that only positioned Tiger's jaw for the devastating left hook that ended matters.......so was that fight a 1 punch ko? I think it was.

I guess a good question would be then, what is the difference between a " one punch KO" and a "multiple punch KO.?" Is a multiple punch KO one that comes with a two or more punch combination?

Rahman did buzz Lewis with a right hand a few seconds earlier. But yeah, it's still considered a one punch KO since the last right hand did all the damage.

I think that if the "set up" punch merely does that,...sets up the head of the opponent for the finisher, then it is indeed a one punch knockout. If the setup punch was a damaging shot, then it's a 2 punch combo ko. Foster's right uppercut memrely positioned Tiger for the ko...so again, I consider that fight as a 1 punch ko.

X-rays of Rahman after defeating Lewis showed that the bones of his right shoulder, arm and hand had been fused with those of Rocky Marciano. Therefore (by irrefutable ad hoc'ery) the KO could not possibly have been a one-punch'er.

Neither man is named Marciano, they are one punch knockouts. Tyson vs Thomas and Forman Chuvalo are also great examples of one punch KO

    Actually, I'd revise that statement.

I just had another look at the second fight, and Lewis hit Rahman out with a two-punch combination.
I'm unsure how I'd remembered that so wrong. :good

The first fight was definitely one punch from Rahman.

It wasn't even a jab. It was a left hook ... followed by a huge roundhouse right.

Some people associate "one-punch-knockout" with stopping a fresh fighter. It doesn't have anything to do with the literal term, but I do understand them a bit.

For instance, Lennox Lewis stopped Golota in the first two minutes of their fight with a barrage of punches.

Marciano knocked out Walcott with a single right hand, after systematically breaking down his body over a long fight.

Julian Jackson stopped Graham in the middle rounds, but was thoroughly losing and severed a confident, winning fighter from his consciousness.

In the literal term, only Rahman's victory over Lewis was a one-punch K.O, while Lewis revenge was not.

In the grand scheme of things, it doesn't matter. Every fight and every stoppage is a story on its own, no need to put them into categories.

Yes, both were one punch knockouts in the sense that neither man was close to hurt before the big one landed.
