In your opinion were the low blows intentionally made by Abner Mares or were they a product of Abgeko holding Abner Down? and Mares just being a natural body puncher? IMO the low blows of the fight are being blow out of proportion, did Abner deserve a point deduction, absolutely because there were some not intentional but around 2-5 that actually did hit the cup the rest were on the belt line. To get him to be more careful in his body shots and not be so careless, although not intentional because he had no point deduction he continued to be wreckless and aim at the body at any opportunity he had. The fight was a Draw IMO. I really want a rematch who will deduct Mares and have him be more careful in his body attack.
he intentionally doesn't worry about where his punches are going. He just throws low and if it hits the body it's all good and if it hits the nutsack it's all good.
I think he's still green and doesnt know any better, but I could be wrong. In any event, the ref was the worst ever, and he should have DQed Mares. Rules are rules.
It's a case of a fighter throwing whatever he can get away with. He doesn't make a conscious decision to throw a fair punch, so that means he's reckless and dirty.
You hit somebody in the nuts once, twice maybe 3 times maybe and I'd say it was accident. Hit someone in the nuts 25 times and its a pattern. The nut shot that sent Joseph to the canvas was intentional, he stepped back, looked at Agbeko's nuts and said "Shuryken!"
Doc, I just posted the sam question: http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=335475 It seems to me that Mares HAD to have been told to throw low. He should have his license suspended for a year. Of course, this will never happen, and the ref will probably receive a nice Christmas bonus.
The little cholo can't throw a body punch that's for sure, but it seems he's even looking low. On the replay where the "knockdown" was called you could see the little greaseballs' eyes afixed on king kongs nuts. Yeah, the little chico knew what he was doing.
no . sad part is, mares seems like a really nice and smart guy...and was just doing his job and if no one was going to take points he wasnt going to alter his approach which was aim toward the body...but if points had been taken, hes next spot to aim should have been chest level
Yes...he got warned 3-4 times and still aimed low...some were on the belt line...ALOT were low on purpose, especially the 11th rd "KD"
No, not intentional, some even were precipitated by Agbekos pushing Mares down. He does tend to wing his shots rather wildly down there, and should a rematch occur, and I think mostly we WANT it, we'll see hi shots hitting more belt and solar-plexus than groin, hip and kidney!
Even Mora warned Mares like 5 times, how many ****ing warnings does a fighter get for low blows. 2 at the most then a point gets deducted, with all those low blows Mares should have been disqualified. He didn't even deduct 1 point the whole night. Had Mares not thrown any low blows Agbeko could have won this fight. How many of those shots changed the outcome.
Watch the Darchinyan fight. Mares did the same thing there, but without this bull**** excuse of being held down. Yes, it is 100% deliberate. He does it with the absolute confidence of knowing the ref won't call him.
I agree with you for once you racist dark shadow of a wanna-be man, but if agbeko was white, would you still say the same thing? NOPE:-(
