Were there any boxers that would be able to beat Tyson mid-range?

In my opinion Dempsey is overrated as puncher. He had 19 first round KOs over all not over top contenders

Lewis has 32 ko's in 41 victories, many over big men. He has quite a few early ko's over real world contenders.

The diminishing returns doesn't go all the way back to 185.

Lewis is certainly not overrated as a puncher. Dempsey however.......

I'm regards to Dempsey, I could favour him if he made it an inside fight. Tyson was a poor inside fighter.

He would NOT win at mid range against Tyson.

Dempsey wasn't a stupid fighter. IF he withstood tyson, he would take it to Mikes weaker areas.

I also think Dempsey could be effective evasively on a more outside distance against Tyson (yes, Jack could do that).

Are you saying that Dempsey's best left hook was harder than the best punches guys like Ruddock or Lewis were capable of throwing? Or are you saying that most of the punches he threw were harder than the ones they threw in general?

I disagree either way but I'm curious what you mean exactly.

yes, in the same way that Tommy Morrison hit harder than them, and the same way that Earnie Shavers hit harder than Tommy Morrison, Dempsey hit harder than Lewis and Ruddock

Diminishing returns does go back that far. In fact, in the real world, 185lbs of solid muscle is actually a big man. The average human is about 5'9" 170~lbs

Lewis is extremely overrated as a puncher, and who cares that he has knockouts over big men??? What does being big do for your brain's ability to absorb shock? I'd be more impressed if someone stopped joe grim in one punch rather than ty fields. Lewis couldnt even put a dent in old Holyfield or Mercer

I'm more interested in these 19 first round ko's Dempsey has over "top contenders".

Barely anyone is going to agree Dempsey punched harder than Lewis and everyone else Tyson faced let alone with Lewis being extremely overrated as a puncher.

That is looking at things extraordinarily shallowly. Dempsey couldn't even beat let alone stop a light heavyweight in Tunney. Another light heavyweight also went the distance with him.

Mercer has an ATG chin and Holyfield is an ATG. List the ATG's Dempsey ko'd?

I dont care if many people agree, I still have my argument and i still believe it to be true, as it is backed with facts.

Fulton, Morris, Fireman Flynn, Porky Flynn, etc

Not to mention early stoppages over Willard and Levinsky

    Sharkey

I cannot believe i have to explain that dempsey was past prime against Tunney. WHAT DOES WEIGHT HAVE TO DO WITH CHIN? Tunney had never been knocked down in his entire career, and yet Dempsey still managed to do what noone else had after 3 years out of the ring, and going downhill since he beat willard.

Also Dempsey has the more impressive knockout resume over contenders and the like, more early stoppages, more brutal stoppages, etc.

What i meant was that he had 19 first round KOs, and in that brutal time period of Dempsey's career, many of the first round KOs were against top contenders, aka the ones i listed

Tunney also knocked down Dempsey and hurt him.
