Were there any lightweights world champs throughout history that Azumah Nelson could have beaten?

Taking Nelson from the Whitaker fight and matching him against any lightweight champ in history, how would he have fared, could Nelson have beaten any of them?

Beats them all. Only lost to arguably the greatest Lightweight ever in Pernell Whittaker and perhaps the most skillful.

That would be a very interesting fight. Nelson much better but at 135 Mancini was very strong. I’d favor Nelson.

Consider how many lightweight champions there have been.
Azumah was a fantastic fighter and would have beaten a fair few.

For sure. Espana, Frias, O'Grady, Kenty, Claude Noel, Nazario, Arroyo, Charlie Brown, Haugen, Holiday and a heap that came after them would provide a lot of good opportunities.

    Claude Noel
    Leander Johnson

All? Nelson didn`t do much at 135 other than lose to Whitaker, Duran would have beat the crap out of him.

I think he’s on even terms or better with the earlier IBF and WBO champions for starters.
