Were there ever 2 better punchers than Ketchell & Langford in the ring at same time?

    Quality>Quantity

The nearest thing that you will get to a career box set of Sam Langfords fights is the Clay Moyle book.

    Something to think about though.

Harry Wills was never stopped by anybody other than Sam Langford untill his last fight against Paulino Uzcdun, despite facing more top flight heavyweights than either Joe Louis or Muhamad Ali.

Langford stopped him twice with a single left hook.

Clearly better? That's a hard call to make. Some respectable examples:

    Shavers-Lyle, Sims, Mercado
Foreman-Lyle, Frazier, Cooney, Morrison, Cooper, Briggs
Michael Spinks-Mustafa Muhammad, Marvin Johnson, Tyson
    Tyson-Smith, Bruno, Lewis
    Chacon-Lopez, Olivares
    Zarate-Zamora, Gomez

At the time it happened, the undefeated Z boys had a combined 73 knockout wins in 74 fights. (What I'd like to know is how the hell 3-1-0 Victor Ramirez ever managed to last the ten round distance with Zarate!)

Zarate-Zamora is a good shout. So is Moore-Marciano, I think. I'd have Moore in my top 5 all time p4p and how can you have Rocky far behind him?

    How about Baer-Louis?

Moore versus Durelle deserves mention. Tiger Ted Lowry has gone on record stating that Moore was the hardest puncher he ever fought, and it's a fact that Archie got Whitehurst out of there at a time when a young Liston failed twice to do so. For his part, the Mongoose went on record identifying the first right hand Durelle floored him with in their immortal initiation bout as the hardest single punch he was ever hit by. (Looking at that footage, I believe this. That punch looked an awful lot like the first bomb Max Baer dumped Carnera with, and it connected more solidly than any single shot Marciano was able to land flush on Moore.)

There may not have been 2 better punchers than Ketchell and Langford in a coffee shop at the same time.

Although chances are good that they were only slightly more serious in the ring than they would've been in a coffee shop...
