Were you impressed by Dubois' chin?

He took a lot of flush right hands early in the fight. Looked like he could have been knocked out at any given moment if he kept eating those shots. I was surprised how well he was taking them and still managed to stop Hrgovic. Very good chin and toughness from Dubois.

 

Yeah it was quite shocking honestly. Hrgovic has good power and Dubois hasn't looked very durable in the past but he was eating those shots like nothing.

 

I thought Hrgybear would just beat on him until Dubois said no mas. I was obviously wrong, maybe Dubois has actually progressed after his losses to Usyk and Joyce and whatever the hell that Lerena fight was.

 

He had some whiskers on him yesterday.

 

Impressed is not even the right word. It was a shocking revelation, really. Following the Usyk fight, I thought he had one of, if not the actual weakest chin in the division. He was made to quit by a power jab. And now Hrgovic, a noted puncher, landed clean shots on him for several rounds, and I don't even remember Dubois being really hurt by any of them. It's amazing what confidence can do to a fighter.

Others mentioned PEDs, but firstly, PEDs don't give you punch resistance, and secondly, I'm not a fan of throwing drug cheating accusations around just like that anyway. As far as we know today, Dubois fought Hrgovic without using any banned substances. Until that state of affairs changes, I'm not going to entertain the idea that he juiced himself up with anything, as it is just unfounded defamation at this point.

 

Dubois is a young giant who hits like an ox. While people were shitting on Usyk I said it was a high risk low reward type of fight.

If Dubois continues to win here it’ll be a high risk high reward fight that ages like fine wine.

 

I mean it was crazy to watch him take 2,217 flush right hands to the face in 3 rounds, but my conclusion upon seeing that is Hrgovic can't crack a egg with his power level.

 

Bruh lol, this is a 220+ man he can def hit, Dubois just has a better chin than we thought and not exhausted. Feel like most of the time he showed a bad chin is when he was gassed.

 

Just having a bit of fun. Like most good fighters, if they can see the punch coming (Dubois definitely did he just couldn't get out of there way or even use his guard to stop them for some reason), and aren't completely spent they usually handle even a good punchers shots well.

 

Whenever a guy looks so much different in one fight to the next, PEDs are going to get brought up.

I thought the same thing watching Dubois walk through about 150 Hrgovic right hands.

There is no evidence he was on any PEDs but it makes you wonder.

I thought Dubois looked great other than getting hit with too many straight right hands.

I look forward to a Joshus Dubois fight but Dubois is going to have to tighten up that defense a bit.

Wearing your opponent out by letting him bounce right hands off your head is not a good longterm strategy.

 

A bit lol, Dubois' trainer should be fired instantly and a defensive master trainer should be brought in just to teach Daniel how to use a guard. You'd think that was one of the first things he was taught when he started boxing, but clearly he didn't retain those lessons. It legit looked like a Rocky movie for 3 rounds.

 

He did. He was like a different guy.

 

Yeah. Kinda strange to be honest…

 

People initially critical of his chin with the Joyce fight were a bit unreasonable because in my view it was best he take a knee. Once your eye is damaged to that point there's no reason to continue.

With hindsight Usyk stopping him with a jab just highlights how much damage Usyk can accumulate with his accuracy and power. No shame losing to an ATG.

I was impressed with his performance against Miller because he started showing real grit, determination and stamina. His performance against Hrgovic was even better and I'm genuinely excited to see where he goes and if he can give AJ a tough fight soon.
