What 154 lb champions would you make an underdog to Floyd Mayweather?

Unlike Gatti he beat an undefeated Vernon Forrest. Gatti was in wars with fringe contenders/glorifed club fighters. Mayorga lost to Spinks, De La Hoya and Tito 'around his prime' which, with his lifestyle has been never really. He's inconsistent, yes. He beat a fighter who had momentary lapses in concentration like Forrest. He's no great.

But Mosley had serious problems with Mayorga's awkwardness. This is way past his prime. Mosley needed THAT knockout to end it and was, IMO way behind on the cards morally even if the official scorecards didn't say so. Mosley; undoubtedly past prime as well, but went on to defeat Margarito in much easier fashion just a few months later.

With the little to no chance of a K.O as Floyd has, he would have to be very strong on the inside to tie Mayorga up and take his rushes. Spinks didn't put on a beautiful display of boxing to beat Mayorga. He's a naturally bigger guy than Floyd too.

Floyd is going to be throwing one shot at a time and trying to be fleet footed when a way past prime Oscar was able to keep Floyd in the corner at times. Unlike Oscars punches, Floyd isn't going to able to parry and smile at Mayorga's; he won't know where they're coming from and they're going to be coming with serious force.

Say what you will, but I believe Mayorga will freak Floyd out and win a decision. And that's just being polite to Floyd because with a big wildman like Mayorga (who I doubt Floyd would even agree to fight anyway) pressurising him I can't see Roger wanting to see too much of it.

Using the ABC/Form argument we can see Mayorga lost to Spinks, Judah in my eyes beat Spinks twice stopping him once, we know Mayweather gave Judah a bit of a beating. We know Delahoya blasted Mayorga out of there, the same DLH Mayweather beat. ABC logic doesn't always work out but clearly FMJ has been performing better

Mayorga at 154 was faded compared to the 147lb version and went 12 with that Italian guy Jamie Moore blasted out. Mayorga simply has no top wins at 154. Mayorga has no height/reach advantages at 154 and isnt a huge 154lber.

Stylistically, Mayorga is there to be countered and if DLH/Tito counter him, FMJ will do the same albeit with not as much power, but flush counters still hurt. Offensively FMJ has seen similar offensive styles from Judah and Hatton and wild shots just couldnt land. Mayorga also will fade down the stretch against a fit fighter like Mayweather so even if FMJ fights very negatively and they are level at 8rounds its likely

Floyd isnt a 154lber BUT I'd put money on him beating Mayorga and I dont bet on too many fights and I probably wouldnt put money on him beating Tito even if I'd pick him

None of this makes sense. Piccirilo also went 11 rounds with Forrest before being stopped, are you saying Jamie Moore's better than Forrest.

At one point Vasquez stopped Larios in one and three rounds. larios went on to last the distance at super-feather against Pac.

These things dn't work. I wasn't comparing common opponents more saying that Floyd is not big enough to beat Mayorga and here's why.:good

 

I was mainly painting a form line of the 2 and if Mayorga was a huge 154lber and kicking ass at the weight I may agree despite his skill set, he's not and he's smaller than DLH, who is actually a pretty huge 154lber himself.

Interestingly a Tito fight was talked about after the DLH fight

 

He's definitely shorter than De La Hoya. Smaller? Nope, Mayorga re-hydrates big time.
