What 160-168-175 Pound fighter can beat a peak RJJ

The question is, why did you miss out Robin Reid?? Everyone knows RJJ was ducking him for years.

Yep - Bob Fitzsimmons is the greatest New Zealand fighter of all time.

English folks always claim Bob - He moved out to New Zealand when he was 8, never put on a glove in England.

He started in New Zealand and developed his craft in Australia.

It's not like say, Tszyu, who us Aussies idolise, but who obviously knew a thing or two about boxing before coming out - Bob is a southern hemisphere fighter all the way.

That said - I don't know how you can put Bob up against Roy - He may well KO Roy - I don't know - But Ruby's style and Roy's - Bob would think he was in the ring with a spaceman.

You are funny indeed. Anyone would look good against the guys Jones was fighting? Jones against everybody Hagler beat: Jones wins every fight easily. Hagler against Hopkins, Toney, Hall, Hill, Ruiz: He loses more than once.

 

I saw enough from an ancient McCallum to convince me he'd beat Jones if he was a little younger.

 

Hopkins may have been green, but he's 4 years older than Jones, so lets not act like Roy was a well seasoned veteran here either.

Roy would always be a stylistic nightmare for Bernard...Roy fought majority of that fight with a broken hand, it was pretty obvious as he favored one for almost the entire fight.

A prime Roy never loses to Hopkins IMO.

The case for Shane's use of roids is strong,but against Jones it isn't.Jones was tested positive for an that time recently banned substance that was not performance enhancing,but for injury recovery.His opponent tested positive fight night for the same substance.Jones never tested positive again.Please don't imply that Roy's success was due to steroids,because it's just not true.

At 175 there are definitely a few that would get the nod over him, Foster would likely stop him in a competitive fight. At 168 no one comes particularly close, anyone saying Calzaghe is kidding themselves. Their fight didn't tell us anything other than a broken down mentally weak version of Roy still had the natural ability to sit Calzaghe on his arse with one of the few punches he threw. At 160 i'd expect a few close fights, but if i had to pick i'd expect him to narrowly edge out anyone at MW.

 

During his era in his prime, i dont think anybdy could have beat him. He was the best during his prime. He took on many tough challengers and beat them easily. Jones-Toney was supposed to be a tough fight for jones but he dominated toney in that fight.

The only fight i saw jones struggled on is against montell griffin in their first fight. He loss that fight via DQ but he destroyed griffin in one round in their rematch. The dude was lb 4 lb king for many years from the mid-late 90's to early 2000's. He was that damn good.
