Close to what I would have wanted to see:

    Prime Michalczewski (1997-2000)
    Prime Jones (1997-2002)
    Prime Dawson (2008-present)

I think Joe goes 0-3, possibly 1-2 if Dawson fights lackadaisical.

Liles - Calzaghe KOd the guy that KOd Liles
Girard - Calzaghe KOd the guy Girard fought to a draw with and only scraped past in a return
Ottke - Wouldnt fight Calzaghe, but compare their respective results over the same fighters and you can see a big difference :patsch
Johnson - beaten by Sheika who Calzaghe stopped in 5 rounds and remember Johnson blew his shot by losing to Woods
Jones - was a LHW, Calzaghe a SMW
Woods - Won his world title in 05. When Woods was established Calzaghe had a choice, Woods or Lacy. Lacy was considered the bigger fight and a favourite. Woods wouldnt have been considered a favourite. So Joe fought the dangerman
Tarver - Calzaghe beat the man who thrashed Tarver :patsch
Bute - What respect would Calzaghe get for that? Bute would have just beaten Berrio for a title and Calzaghe went up in weight and beat a more dangerous, respected known fighter :patsch
Pavlik - Calzaghe beat the guy that gave Pavlik his 1st loss after, but at the time your saying, Calzaghe was a LHW, so beating a MW would have just drawn critism :patsch
Taylor - Was offered and priced himself out. I thought this was well documented :patsch
Dawson - Not an attraction then, but has now lost to Pascal, who lost to Froch who lost to Kessler who lost to
B Hop 2 - Why would you want that, when Ive known you jump on the bandwagon and say Hopkins was past his best, and he beat an old man etc. Double standards or what.. Still Its expected from an idiot
Froch - :patsch So Calzaghe had a choice, fight the more respected bigger name, bigger fighter Hopkins or Froch who was just at the time an unknown outside the UK challenger

Carl froch was different weight class. Calzaghe moved up and became ring champion by slapping bhop.
Dawson after seeing how **** poor he was against pascal hhhmmm..
    Taylor?! LoL
    Pavlik yes.
    Ottke yes.
    Others are not worth mentioning.

    1) Ottke.
    2) prime rjj
    3) pavlik

RJJ is the only one that would stand a chance.

    Bute too green.

    :-((

whats wrong with this ***** bailey, im just answering the thread question and thinking of potentially good match ups.

Those fighters I mentioned were/are better than Tocker Pudwill, peter Manfredo and branko sobot and about 90+% of Calzaghe's opposition and would have got Calzaghe solid recognition early.

Just answer the thread question like everyone else, such as your buddy:

those 3 would have been good fights for zagy. Ottke and Calzaghe was a must fight for SMW at that time, Pavlik at the time looked unstoppable. and Prime RJJ was P4P consensus #1.

and bailey lay of the boxrec and get a full comprehension of the terminology of "styles make fights" instead of Calzaghe beat fighter A who beat fighter B so fighter B was...:deadfukarf with that **** man and answer the thread question

Once again Joke, read below and see that once again a completely different person from a different thread noted you as a failure, as I pwned you again

For note Pudwill was a late sub, you should know that when passing comment :patsch.
Manfredo was a top 10 Ring rated SMW at fight time, and the match was made to create interest for a Hopkins match :patsch, you should know this.
But tell me one long reigning champ who had over 20 defences that didnt have a couple of gimmes? You cant.
    :pwned again
    :deal

I think your highly obsessed by Sir Joe my man. You got some serious hate there. You answered the question and then you went on to name every possible fighter in 168-175 for the last 15 years.

Mr Bailey simply put you in the place as the thread was to name 3 not 25+.
Now lets have a look a Bhops resume during his highlight years as 160 *cough* champ...
    RJJ loss obviously...
    ROy Ritchie
    Wendall Hall
    Melvin Wynn
    Lupe Aquino?
    Segundo Mercado
Steve Frank you ****ing kidding me?
    Joe Lipsey
    Bo James
    David Jackson.
Glen JOhnson ( fair enough )
    Andrew council
    Simon Brow
    Rober allen
    Anwun Echols
    Syd Vanderppol
Antw Echols again? had to rematch he he was a legend after all good old Echols......

list goes on...........he finally meets a class B opponent in taylor Jermain and gets blasted not once but twice.

So much for the great BHop.

of course, that is the case with any title reign, but that is not related to this topic since the thread question is just asking for opinions who would you like to have seen Calzaghe fight.

If someone asks me about Tyson's reign I would say foreman and some others.
    Khan - Bradley
    RJJ - DM
    and so on

so just read the thread title before you enter it in the future:good

just answer the thread question which three do you think would have been good fights for Calzaghe?

thats all and lay of the boxrec son.

I actually agree with Michalczewski and Jones. We cannot put Dawson in the same league yet.
