You guys probably watched on HBO but the Colonel was dreadful and horribly biased. He would have you thinking that ring generalship entails walking forward whilst your opponent goes back, but that was masterful ring generalship from Rigo. As I said in another thread,it reminds me of MAB-Hamed in that although it wasn't a whitewash the way some people remember it,one man completely dictated the pace and direction of the fight. This will probably be remembered faintly in years to come as a schooling. Not for me,but a masterful display all the same.
And Rigo was suppose to win if he gone with a "mercenary style kill them all" kinda style? He would've been out cold. He did what he had to do and neutralized his opponent. I know people wont always go for the same things but I never got the obsession with "bum fights". Point mainly is hit and not get hit. No need to get carried away thats how you can get your lead wiped away and get stopped. Make the fight as easy as you can and get the W. May stand in the minority but I hated Alvarado/Rios fights along with Bradley/Provolone for instance. I agree he should've pressed more but Rigo got his best rds in the last two because of that. Especially the 12th that was a beating which was Rigo's best. Nonito could've been sleeping if he pressed as hard as the last three rds and to Rigo's credit he almost never let Nonito shift the momentum.
