It was announced released on an affiliated HBO media account, I can't get the screenshot but will look, HBO plain and simple weren't willing to blow their undercard budget at a place like MSG for 2 fighters who were unknown in the US. Thomas by December was already looking at other potential opponents in the 168 division and is lined up for a date this month. http://www.goldengloves.co.za/boxing-news/berman-talks-tommy-gun/ . HBO approved Pirog but he can't because of injuries and likely won't be back for another 6 months from now.
Kas you say why cant GGG fight this guy instead of that guy, well why couldnt Geale fight GGG instead of Mundine, thus keeping his belt. you must admit that Geale camp dont look to crash hot for avoiding a fight with GGG and taking the fight with Mundine instead. GGG will never get the fanbase Mundine has, he is to boring of a fighter both inside and outside the ring. if he was so confident in defeating GGG then fight they guy and scheduel the mundine fight for a few months later. he chose the easy fight instead of facing GGG and was willing to loose a belt to do so. Cant really respect that much but in this game often money means more than legacy.
If you want to keep playing dumb, then so be it. Golovkin didn't have the WBA break its own rule by saying Golovkin would have to fight a certain fighter within less than half the 9 month mandatory defense period ONE DAY before a fight. Geale did. Golovkin was offered a fight with TO and disappeared when TO refused the TO catchweight. His fans claim HBO refused the fight because they were both unknown yet they approved Pirog and Proksa to fight Golovkin? Do they give English lesson where you live??? There are no certainties or boxing. Geale knows this and that's why he decided to secure the speculated 2 million and avenge his lone defeat. What is wrong with that? Where has Geale ever said he confident he would beat Golovkin?? Your words, not his. If he lost the Golovkin fight, Mundine would not fight him and his chance at a deserved payday would be gone, so put your man love for Mundine aside and actually use that funny thing in your head called a brain if you have one.
They were unknown enough for the US market and the budget was worth blowing at a venue like MSG, the show they put on in Monaco was janky enough with it's setting and budget. Pirog was approved but no more came of the planning or potential undercard that was going to be under the match due to Pirog pulling out back in August due to his back injury so it's fair to say it was in it's infancy and was just as likely to be put off by HBO. Yes Proska was approved, partly because he was seen as marketable was more friendly to the audience they were trying to reach, he spoke English and had a moderate Polish following which has worked for guys like Adamek but the ratings were a stinker and HBO isn't keen on taking chances at the moment.
Like i said, 2 belts are better than one, his bargin power has diminished somewhat, he could have used the two belts to get a mega fight with Martinez and unify the division, all of which is worth alot more than a meazly 2mill from the Mundine fight. Mundine exposed him a bit when you think about it, he couldnt pull the trigger and Mundine was pretty much shot, we could all see that in the first round. He hurt Mundine but still couldnt finish him off.. did Mundine grow a granite chin over night or something lol.. Try keep it civil mate, i am not having a crack at you personally. I honestly dont think Geale will EVER fight GGG and i think he cut his nose off to spite his face, he will never win that WBA title back and he will never unify the division. WBA orderd a fight that Geale made zero effort in making it happen. He snubed his nose at them and fought Mundine instead, honestly what did you expect them to do? GGG had been fcked around for far to long and the WBA had to crack the whip. It is unfortunate they put Geale in the position they put him in however the choice not to fight GGG had always been Geales. Atleast you can admit that GGG would most likely beat Geale , which is also most likely the reason Geales people will never put him in with GGG. :good
FFS. How could he unify the belts against Martinez if he was stuck into a corner by the WBA??? I never said he would lose to Golovkin. I've always said Geale has a very good chance at beating him but like I said before; THERE ARE NO CERTAINTIES IN BOXING. IF he lost those titles to Golovkin in the pathetic time frame given by the WBA, he would have nothing to stand on, not to mention if he did fight Golovkin there was a good chance he would've been stripped of his IBF belt. Geale went over to the USA and challenged the winner of Martinez vs Chavez Jr. Unfortunately, SM was injured and the last round KD occured. Besides, if you honestly think Geale would make more than 2 million against Martinez, then you're seriously deluded. Martinez made 1.4 million against Chavez Jr. atsch. :rofl Mundine didn't expose him at all. Geale dominated every round and outlanded him in every round but three which were even with Geale landing more power shots. Geale didn't even get out of second gear. Not once did I see him breathing heavily or look out of breath. It's hard to KO someone who headbutts or elbows you everytime they get hurt. How many warnings did Mundine get? You have no credibility when it comes to that fight seeing as you picked Mundine by TKO and went on a troll spree prior to it. Why should Geale make an effort when the WBA intentionally screwed him. What boxing organisation announces ONE DAY before a fight that has already been signed that the winner will be given less than half of the mandatory defense time to fight the #1 contender?? It was a breach of there own rules and there hypocrisy was shown later regarding the approval of a WBA interim MW title fight involving Murray. The WBA and Felix Sturm ****ed Golovkin all those years, not Geale. He payed the price for there bull****.
kas I agree on all points but don't waste your time trying to explain it to TC the business of boxing is not his strong point!:hey
So why win the belts then go try get a fight on with Martinez if he was stuck in a corner? :hey Why have a revenge fight against Mundine and not even get out of 2nd Gear? i mean WTF I picked Mundine to win because i was having a stir with Sox. Deep down i knew Mundine would have to pull off something big to win against Geale. Mundines last fight i picked GoCart to win and even bet against Mundine, that should tell you something. I am not a mundine fan buddie so stop with the crap.
which is an example that you dont need to have any pro fights to know something when it comes to boxing. You on the other hand spoke about boxing bussiness yet you couldnt even defeat a fossil in Nader Hamdan lol
