But that question mark will always be there about him. Limond was a very good test for Khan and I give him credit for stopping him but Limond hardly has a great (T)KO record himself. I get the impression when watching Khan box that he is absolutely **** scared of getting hit. Now that is partly a good thing because it's not a good idea to let someone clock you willingly but it also shows how unconfident Khan is about is own ability to absorb punishment. I also think that Limond was possibly one of just 2 guys Amir's faced that genuinely thought they could win the fight. When Khan steps up against people with ambition, I think he'll be found wanting. He's just too easy to hit, and with that chin, it's only a matter of time and silly matchmaking from Sports Network. I still think he'll be a decent fringe world level boxer, but nothing more.

It is the most understandable mistake in the world, they probably even take it as a compliment.

The stoppage was fine, I'd have let him land two or three more punches perhaps, but it wasn't a joke stoppage.

I was watching on TV and it didn't help the commentator screaming everytime Khan took a shot like it was some kind of shock that a boxer gets hit.

Rawling was poor I thought, seemed to be getting overexcited anytime Lawton threw a punch in anger, I had the feeling he was wanting Lawton to win.

& then there was his comments at the end of the fight about how lawton 'may or may not be a better fighter than Limond' Come on! Limond gave Khan a helluva fight, Lawton was completely overwhelmed.

I dont know what Rawling was on, well in fact I do. He was on Lawtons dick all night!

& then there was Duke, who told us "styles make fights" during the Bell fight:patsch

I could ****in scream everytime a commentator or his sidekick spits out that well worn boxing cliche:twisted: As if we dont ****in know that styles make fights!!!

& then there was Barry burnt hand, whats the point of him being there? Big grins & telling us that Khan was awesome, then back off to Setanta for his next paycheque!

I will take that as fair enough. I did not see any replays.

To me...it looked like a count or wait till he got dropped.

It was no Morrison v Mercer. And anyone saying I hate Khan or I am racist is plain stupid. I have writtten fight reports for Amir Khans official site, so please don't bother with that shite.

It looked premature to me and he did not look ****ed, as soon as the ref stepped in, he stood up and smiled and looked fine.
But I am happy to accept I need to watch it again.

And I take nothing away from Khan, he did in 4 what Thaxton took 7 to do and he has DEFINITELY improved his power and he looked more composed than last time around.

Lawton was a perfectly acceptable opponent, a slight step down from Limond but still a solid pro and I have no issues with the fight. Khan should indeed now be looking for Thaxton, I felt he would be stopped before and he still might, but he has the tools to outbox and stop Thaxton and likewise must be wary because Thaxton could starch him...

That is exactly the sort of nerve inducing and yet winnable fight he needs.

Duke came out with another classic, "Kahns winning the fight in every quarter...the inside and the er...outside.."

I think Rawling was so keen to have something dramatic or shocking to commentate on that he was just convincing himself that Khan was going to get wobbled or dropped at any minute.

Duke rarely starts a sentance and ends it how he would have anticipated. He gets excited about something else halfway through and loses his train of though. I particularly liked his comment during the 12th round of Calzaghe-Lacy:

"He's got him again John! One more punch and this fight is... thank you and goodnight"

    and:

"Clinton Woods, almost the nearly man of British boxing"

I'm sure there are better examples but that one made me laugh at the time.

As I say my good man, its just my opinion, you might see a replay & still think it was a tad soft. After all, it was scotsman Victor Laughlan who was reffing, & hes given Khan a dodgy stoppage win before, at the Braehead arena. I was there!

Near the end of the broadcast they interviewed Lawton, & he was also happy with the stoppage. Lawton said that he asked his trainer if he could see his ribs in Row Z after Khan hit him with a bodyshot, & said he was shocked with Khans strength, & said he was still a bit winded! Then Lawton said he thought Khan was better than Thaxton, in fact he was all too gushing with the compliments:think

Im taking the view that Khan shocked him with how good he was with a materclass but I can understand some of the cynicism about the fight. But as it was an all england fight, for once its not my argument:happy & I can take a chill pill as Achilles advised just two short days ago:D

PS, Its time to come clean, I did see those video clips of yours! I just thought I would leave you & Gaz sweating for a while as you were both baying for my blood;)

Not bein funny.. but I don't understand how you can say that he will be nothing more about a 20/21 year old with such raw talent.. He has some serious potential and will only get better.. you can't predict how good he could be at that age.. As Lawton himself said.. He wanted to catch him at the start of his career because he's still making mistakes.. a few years from now and he'll be way past that level.. and he still got raped..

Anyone who doesn't think he was a class act last night needs to re-evaluate why they watch boxing... easily his best display do far in terms of balance, ring genralship and defence.

The kid did look really good last night and he actually tried to hold a guard at times untill t became obvious that Lawton was not going to punch him.

Lawton looked to be a decent opponent for this stage in his career but that guy was bad.

It is a shame that Thaxton was so bad last night because when and if the two are put together I can not see past Khan winning by an early ko.

Lawton was very very poor and a step back in quality from Limmond.

the stoppage was valid. but only because lawton didn't take a knee...he was slumped against the ropes, covering up but still getting caught and not answering back. not too disimiliar to when anthony small got stopped by pryce
