Kimbo landed some shots, but the guys still was standing and not going down. Yes the ear was bleeding, but a BS Stoppage.
For better or for worse, UFC KO1 EliteXC after tonight. That's what they get for putting all the eggs in Kimbo's basket.
Apperently they are big in the red and might be out of business if things don't change within the year. They are banking big time on the cbs deal. but that is just a rumour i had read.
When I first saw that stoppage, I thought it was bull**** and the referee saved Kimbo. Then when they replayed it, I saw that Kimbo really hurt Thompson and the referee acted a bit too fast. I still thought the stoppage was bad, but not as bad as my original reaction. The fact is this fight was on network television. This was mma's first showing on this stage, and CBS has been catching heat for allowing it on their network. I really think there was added pressure to stop all of the fights before they became brutal displays. I feel that is why you didn't see round 3 when the ladies fought. That mouse was ugly, and there is no way they wanted that woman to get hit on it anymore on that station.
It would be a joke if it wasn't so ****ing tragic. That sound you heard at the end of the fight was MMA on network TV dieing a terrible death.
The worst part is what will elite xc have for an encore? they are not that deep and had most of their stars on this card, I think they will do mma more harm then good and maybe put a nail in their own coffin.
