Just rewatched the Vitali/Lewis fight and its obvious Lewis isn't anywhere near top condition but they still rough eachother up. A conditioned Lewis whoops Vitali any day of the way but round 2 is awesome, both trading big shots and brawling. The heavyweight ound 9 of Gatti/Ward http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9g5mFzIUSFY Go to 4minutes 13 in for R2
i think in the earlier rounds lewis' condition didn't have an effect. and after them the fight was stopped.
Not as brutal as the 1 in round 6 I wish it had gone on because Lewis really started to time Vitali with some massive shots and Vitali had slowed and was getting hit more and more by Lewis's better shots
Indeed a great round. Who says Lewis can't take a punch, even at age 37? Probably the most controversial fight since Tyson-Holyfield II. Well, maybe Holyfield-Lewis I was worse, but it was clear Lewis won that one, so it doesn't spawn a 40-page discussion whenever their names are dropped, like Lewis and Klitschko.
I thought it was stupid when Foreman kept saying "all it takes, is one right hand, and Vitali is Heavyweight champion of the world". Then we see him land the right, over and over, and Lewis just keeps taking it. Larry said that he negated Lewis' right hand in the post fight conference, but he hit Vitali flush with it several times himself. They both took the other guys best shots, and kept coming.
Imagine what an inshape Lewis would have done to Vitalis face??!! Lewis looked slow with the right hand, imagine what a Lewis from the Tyson fight or a Lewis from the Rahman 2 or Holyfield fight :O His right hand wud have took Vitalis head off
Stop hating dannylatics. Lewis should have given Vitali a rematch. It would have been good for everyone - for the fans, Lewis and Klischko.
