Now that is what ive been saying all along , what effect will fighting all these lesser fighters have had on Mundine ? I remain as sceptical as you but like i said Mundine needs to lure a big fish to garner any respect in world boxing circles and these days they don't get any bigger than Pavlik .
Mate he's fought Ottke,Kessler,Green,Siaca,Echols and has sparred Roy jones at many times in the past....... He knows what it's like to step up against better class of opponents. I think you are getting mixed up with other Aussies who get pummelled after stepping up in class. He will put up a good performance but probably get UD by Pavlik
There is only one name on the list you mentioned that is remotley in the same class as Pavlik and thats kessler .
Maybe, but the point i'm making is he's not getting thrown to the Lions. He's been in the mix before.
Hes been in the mix but 3 of the 5 names u mentioned represent Choc's 3 losses in the ring? Josey mate whats your personal opinion you believe the bloke thought he was legit? Or are u geein us all up lol
Your missing my point as well, i'm not saying he won't get beat. I'm saying he can fight at that level. Not like the other Aussies in the past who have had padded records then step up
No maybe's about it mate , only Kessler is on kelly's level and Mundine has lost three out of five v the blokes you named ,if the fight comes off then Mundine could well be in the **** as his recent level of comp is less than stella and not even on par with the two he was succesful in . its legit to ask if the level of opponents he has been in with recently will have diminished his skills .
I think Mundine's skills have diminished because of age, recent injuries and general wear and tear of playing Rugby League for many years. Not because he's fighting inferior opponents in the last 2yrs etc
Daz , Take a deco on the main board mate on the Who will pavlik fight next thread ( Postes made by poster boxing promoter ) i think , Yea it could be a wind up but really Mundine has backed himself into a corner by taking fights like he has over the last few years , his only option is to take a massive fight or be remembered as a joke in international boxing circles .
Well if thats case then maybe that is why he is so keen to repeatedly fight the likes of ,Sam Soliman and a retired Danny Green instead of the likes of Kessler .
Mundine is a very skilled fighter and we would all love to see him step up to the plate and fight a superstar like Pavlik. I would be supporting him but can we all imagine for a second how the fight would go. Anthony would be overly cautious in the first half of the fight with Pavlik ruthlessly bombing forward. Mundine might win 1 or 2 rds early in the fight with his skill but most likely he would be very defensive and not doing enough to win rounds. As the fight enters the second half of the fight i see Pavlik winning an easy UD or stopping Mundine if Anthony lets his hands go and tries to win the fight rather than just being happy to go the distance.
Yeh Kel I understand where you are coming from, but I do disagree somewhat. Mundine's been in the mix before (not that I think that mix is anywhere near Pavlik's standard), and he looked sharp and promising for the most part, but I haven't seen that same Choc for a while in my opinion. I still believe that if he does step up in such a way (from fighting a faded soliman and some guy called kim, to punching on with a peak Pavlik) that he is going to get his 4th L without a doubt. I'd be the first to shake Choc's hand if this fight were to come off, but I think it's poorly scheduled (if it were to be held in Sept.) and may be damaging to the direction of his career. Anyway, I don't really want to keep writing about a fight that I doubt will happen.. still very sceptical :yep
