It went more or less just as I thought.Still enjoyed the chess aspect, and if anyone expected anything different, then you need to go back to the WWE

Just the opposite. Dawson had youth & speed on his side, yet he chose to play it very cautious. He hardly threw any combinations the whole fight, seemingly afraid of B-Hop's counterpunching.

    Dawson is a little biatch.

I thought the fight was alright. It could have used some more sustained action but it was a nice technical display. Not a great fight and I don't want to see them fight again but not bad. It doesn't help when it follows a good heavyweight fight either.

Hopkins put on a defensive masterclass with range and muting Chad's punches, he just couln't get his offense going enough. I was actually never bored, the coordinated movement and jockeying for range was interesting.

I have to be honest with you, when I watched Wilfred Benitez' career (except for one or two great fights) and even some of Sal Sanchez' fights, (obviously not Wilfredo Gomez or Lopez or Nelson, but his other ones) I found it to be more boring than this fight almost EVERY time, but no one ever mentions how their noncommitted punching style makes those guys boring. Benitez moves his head so well, nothing lands on him, but he lands a few punches with nothing on them sharply. Rinse and repeat a million times. Hopkins really was moving quick for an old guy.

Would you rather have it ended in the same fashion as the first fight? I think everyone knew it would be a dull fight from the start. But at least we got to finally see the actual outcome of the fight between the old veteran and the younger fighter.
Did you really expect an exciting fight, especially with Hopkins?

I was entertained probably because of my low expectations but Hopkins early looked like he was gonna win a TD

then Dawson rallied back and won the late rounds which are usually Hopkins territory

    there were some good punches

only problem Dawson took awhile to get going Hopkins faded late

    lots of misses without counters

Dawson didnt snap the jab til late in the fight

early Hop completely nullified that jab with the movement of his lead hand - he knows how to tire out a guys shoulders by pressing down when they start to commit with the jab. Chad just couldn't do it as effectively early because of that respose to his lead. From a defensive standpoint Hopkins did everything right, controlled range and blocked and move well - he just couldn't switch to consistent offense enough to convincingly win rounds. Still masterful and fun to watch.

Hopkins stopped Chad's jab early and then got tired and less effective at limiting the punch output.
