Both got recent exposure on the networks, and both have comparable resumes. Shouldn't this be the direction that both parties take?
Why not though? Honestly, Martinez doesn't want to fight GGG. If I were him, I wouldn't either. Call it a duck. It is what it is. I'm not saying Martinez couldn't beat GGG, but GGG is dangerous as hell. More than likely Martinez will target Cotto, who would get the **** beat out of him, or Mayweather who will not fight him. I don't know what Cotto is thinking, but if he gets past Trout and accepts a fight with Martinez, he's crazy. There is no reason to see Cotto at this stage in his career take another beating. Martinez will likely go for the money and a rematch with Chavez, which is still a potentially 50/50 fight, even if Martinez wins almost every round. Obviously, Martinez isn't going to fight Quillen. Quillen isn't even a name really. So Quillen might as well fight GGG, and GGG might as well fight Quillen.
I saw on an ESB article where Quillen said that GGG needs to beat somebody before he can get in the ring with Quillen. Something along the lines of how he needs more exposure. Well, who the hell is Quillen? I think they are on at least equal terms regarding exposure. And both fighters are young enough to sustain a loss and still have a prosperous career.
Agreed. I'm a huge fan of Quillen but I think GGG exposes his subpar defense at this point. He really needs to improve.
Cotto will hold his own against Martinez at 154 mark my words if the fight ever happens. First Cotto has improved his boxing ability with Diaz who is a great trainer IMAO. Second Martinez has put a lot of muscle since he moved from 160. Old and probably inactive fighters going down in weight is and will always be a spell for disaster.
Well if Quillen beats N'Jikam, that would put him right near the top of the division. An N'Jikam win will be better than anything GGG has done. Id love if this fight happened, love everything about it. Guaranteed fireworks
