Ortiz is a solid contender…..but just not good enough for the Champs. i´d love to see him vs miller, whyte, joyce, kuzmin, hrgovic etc. but Looks like he rather fights no hopers like kauffman and that romanian dude.

 

Seems only interested in fighting cans until getting a big money shot...

 

I love how armchair boxing warriors call a guy a bum lol. Yes Kauffman is a limited journeyman, but he fought a smart fight and showed good durability and great toughness! A shame that someone who poses as a boxing fan would call a guy like that a bum...oh well to each thier own I guess

 

This. He brings nothing to the table, so I doubt any top contenders would risk their current standing and an upcoming payday by fighting Ortiz and likely getting beaten.

Also, Ortiz still has the same weaknesses, so he'd lose to Wilder again and I can't see either Fury or Joshua's teams even entertaining an Ortiz fight, so I'd have to say he missed his chance and that he's pretty much in no man's land in the heavyweight division.

 

I think it plays out similar but the question is whether or not Hunter can bite down on his gum shield and survive some rough moments. I think he can but it's a huge ask. I give him a 40% chance of winning it. Hunter is a dark horse at HW. He reminds me a lot of Holyfield. The guy has zero fear and can cause the bigger guys problem with his skill, speed and toughness despite his smaller stature.

 

So you don’t think the top guys would have finished that guy off easily? Ortiz really isn’t all that , he’s beaten absolutely nobody and is being given credit for a KO loss to an average champion.

 

Now that is a completely different take and 1 I can agree with. Yes I think most upper tier HW’s stop Kauffman after the first KD maybe even sooner lol. But I already knew what to expect from Ortiz. He is what he is, a solid gatekeeper type with a punch most guys will respect, but not enough to be a real threat at the top of the division. Kauffman is a limited journeyman, but not a BUM as you stated. I have to much respect for boxing and boxers to use that term even on guys I don’t rate highly.

I am not a Wilder fan by any stretch, and think he is also very limited in a tactical skill level view, but he is not quite what I would term average...even more so after the Fury fight (both guys impressed me). You could see the respect they have for one another in the measured and conservative way they fought. You could hear the mutual respect between them afterwards. Quite a shame that thier fans don’t understand or share that respect on the level of the fighters themselves.

I love boxing and have for so many years, and while I don’t and didn’t possess the tools to be good or even competent lol, I have imense respect for anyone willing to put life and limb literally on the line to dream of greatness....the word bum does not sit well with me in discussing guys who are willing to step up an do what I cannot!

 

Ortiz was scared to go for the finish vs someone like Kauffman... he hurt him many times, even after dropping him in earlier rounds, he didn't go for the finish

 

Joe Joyce and him apparently shook hands on a fight. Not sure how much that means, but it's a fight I'd really like to see, both men would be taking a risk.

 

I don’t think Ortiz would be getting handed 350k paydays for easy fights if PBC didn’t have something planned for him.

Agreed. Ortiz is a top fighter. He looks so old though, late 40s at least.

It's a real shame we never got to see him in his prime as a pro.

Wilder is also still a top fighter. Can't stand the AJ fanboys who think that because Fury dealt with Wilder AJ automatically would. Fury did not do AJ work, if AJ can beat Wilder, he has to prove that in the ring. Total jokes
