Took nine rounds to get rid off a man who lasted 2 rounds against Klitschko!! And by DQ!!! Is he supposed to be the next HW champion and a great superstar??

You can't always judge by how long it takes someone to win; it took Klitschko 7 rounds to beat a shot Rahman, but I get your point: Solis is garbage.

For me this fight demonstrated that the only two fighters on the planet who could represent a real challenge for Solis are precisely the Klitschko brothers. Solis would be a favorit to any other fighter out there.
I am critical of Solis's shape, in his last fight it seemed to me that his legs were not supporting his overweight well, but still he is able to beat all the OTHERS, which would be quite an accomplishment, as there are several athlets who represents a challenge to anybody like Haye, Valujev, Peter, Arreola, Ustinov, Herelius ...

Austin landed so many shots on Solis that I have to question his defense and reflexes. I thought based on his amateur background he'd be much more elusive. But he's not.

Add to that the lack of punching power. Austin is not known to have a granite chin but he appeared to be collapsing more from lack of stamina than from Solis punching power towards the end of the fight.

All in all I don't see how Solis would give either Klitschko any trouble. Especially not in this shape he's in.

    I thought Solis looked terrible.
This was the first fight I had seen live of Solis...and seeing how many people were saying that he would give Wlad and/or Vitali trouble, I was expecting to see some good work out of him.

Yes, there were a couple times in the fight were Solis put some combos together, but overall we are talking a few seconds out of 10 full rounds. What I saw was a plodder with above average, but not blazing hand speed, and no footwork. Power perhaps average, as he couldn't even get Austin out of there after knocking him down.

Austin (who was KO'd in 2 by Wlad, with Wlad only using one hand!) also made Solis miss badly several times, as Solis was throwing wide looping shots. Solis was better than Austin, but not by a lot. Solis was up by 1, maybe 2 points. He was the best of the worst.

The Solis of Friday night would get beat by Wladimir, Vitali, Haye, Admaek, Peter, Chambers, Thompson, Boystov, and maybe even Chagaev (although Chagaev looked pretty bad in his last fight too).

In other news, when Solis heard it was a DQ, he got really excited, and asked "Where's my Dilly Bar?".

no. still I hope the klitschko go away as soon as possible, I am sick of them.
haye vs adamek, boytsov vs solis or povetkin vs helenius is all good for me, principal thing boxing with all range of punches, not just jabs 100000 times:fire

That's true. Every time Austin landed one of his slow as molasses punches (which was a LOT), I kept thinking how lucky Solis was that it wasn't Wlad or Vitali in there with him.

Vitali took 10 rounds to dispose of euro level Sosnowski, and although beating the pulp out of Briggs, couldn't put him down. Solis did hurt Austin, and if he'd kept the sustained attack in the 5th, he would have taken Austin out imo...

Are you serious? Are you really comparing Vitali against Sosnowski and Briggs to what Solis did against Austin?

Vitali put on a freakin CLINIC against Sosnowski and Briggs. Vitali was shutting them out.

On the other hand, I only had Solis up by 1 or 2 points at the time of the DQ.
Solis was S-L-O-W, plodding around the ring, etc... he looked really bad.

No i'm just stating that Solis performance shouldn't be judged on the fact it took 10 rounds for him to win. Austin didn't come to fight, and was holding on for dear life at the end. I don't remember seeing Solis hurt, or staggered, he slowed the pace, and was content on boxing Austin...

Good fighter, solid performance, clearly needs to improve conditioning. Definitely too much criticism. He's a boxer and boxed Austin's socks off and only Ray's half-conscious illegal blow saved him of being knocked out. Solis almost did itt off the jab in R5 I believe, that's was something.

You're surely not gonna hold it against Fatboy Solis that he didn't blew away Austin like World HW Champion Klitschko did? Wait, you already did. Odlanier Solis is not Wladimir Klitschko.

The problem with your argument is that Vitali dominated every second of that fight. And a prime fringe-level contender like Sosnowski is certainly not a weaker opponent than a shot, out-of-shape 40 year old Austin who hasn't been in the ring for ages.

Unfortunately Solis didn't even get close to dominating and neutralizing Austin. In fact he looked very sloppy plodding after Austin and couldn't even knock him out when his opponent was totally gassed out and collapsing from an apparent lack of stamina.

Austin weighed in at 239lbs for Solis, and 247 for Wladimir. He was in better shape against Odlanier...

I think the majority of posters claiming he is challenge to w or v klitschko are cubans. Solis looked vulnerable and fat against Austin.
